Hey, y’all. What’s up. It’s International Lesbian Day, apparently. And since Coming Out Day is also soon upon us (Monday), I thought I’d take a moment to talk about my recent journey into discovering that I identify strongly with being a lesbian. I’ve used this term to describe myself for years, in a rather tongue-in-cheek way, but recently I’m finding that I’m more serious about it. I’m still also firmly bisexual, and I’m still kind of figuring everything out about this, but the emotional state of being sapphic and the importance it carries for me has brought me great joy, comfort, and familiarity recently. It’ll be interesting to explore how this fits in with my non-binary gender. But the lesbian community historically was the most comfortable place for non-binary and transmasculine folks to exist, and we shouldn’t allow gatekeeping, trans-exclusive “feminists” to define what is and what is not womanhood or woman-loving-womanhood. Happy Lesbian Day to all of you! #internationallesbianday https://www.instagram.com/p/CUyNM7DvJfQ/?utm_medium=tumblr
