“Would Free Anti-Fascists,” Toronto Star. November 20, 1941. Page 37. --- In a letter to Prime Minister King the National Council for Democratic Rights asks reconsideration of the status of ‘interned anti-Fascists who have strongly intimated that, if released, they wil throw all their efforts into war work, those who are physically fit offering themselves for service in the armed services and other going into war industries.’ The letter, signed by Miss B. Buhay, secretary, refers to press reports that the British government had allowed several hundred enemy alien internees in the ‘C’ category to be sent to Canada to work in munition plants.

Page 5. ---- According to information from Cambridge, Mass., supposedly received via a letter to his son, Ernst (Putzi) Hanfstaengel, above, former confidante of Hitler, and at one time Nazi foreign press chief, is held in a Canadian internment camp. Hanfstaengel left Germany some years ago after a mysterious break with Hitler. His son, Egon, is attending Harvard University.

This beautiful bird was a handmade work of a polish internee here in my village from 1943, a guy buyed it for five swiss francs.
