I was hit with Apollo's red ball. I'm sorry.
Can't believe they took down the Internet on a Friday, bro you gotta do that on a Monday.
After hours of walking, you've (yet again) found yourself in what might just be the most bland human neighborhood you've ever seen. Each house seems nearly like an identical copy of the next, rows and rows of soulless homes scattered at large like a maze.
You're certain this was marked as part of your path somewhere on the map, but you haven't had the chance to look at it since you left the cave. Sooner or later you'll be lost, you figure.
Luckily you've been here before. You have some mental notes about some of these homes, the few that you can remember visiting in a past rendezvous not too long ago.
You can't be sure any of these homes are safe to invade for a short while, but by process of elimination (and not wanting to walk much further), you decide on the least risky location in your general vicinity.
Of course, least risky in this case means you have no idea if there is a risk inside. This is a survival strategy you like to call Fuck Around; Find Out.
With each passing minute, the storm grows more powerful. The rain pours harder and faster. The thunder strikes louder and brighter.
You'd like to get away from this chaos for a minute. Even just to get your confirmations on where to go next.
And maybe also reapply your face paint. It's nearly all washed off.
The sound of shattering is loud as you bash in a window at the back of the house. You could have used the potentially unlocked backdoor right next to it for a quieter entry, but this option is objectively more badass and you know it.
(OOC: This might alert @amipipefan413yet and @casey-egbertnumber1...)
Apparently a massive Internet outage is going on right now. Except Tumblr though. Tumblr is the cockroach of social media.
How I feel when most of the internet breaks again but the sites I use are still fine (also I got a lollipop :D)
Meta and X among social media channels down
Websites effected include AO3 and Twitter
ah, another global outage. and once again, guess what website isn’t a part of it? that’s right. this hellsite. Tumblr
I literally just watched youtube shit the bed in real time.
Earlier today in the 20 minutes it took me to watch a video they had overhauled their interface to make it uglier and solely optimized for mobile devices. They are like half a step away from removing the web interface entirely and forcing everyone to download a "youtube app" on their fucking computers.
But I'm used to ignoring their bullshit so I kept watching my videos anyway.
Then just now in the 30 seconds or so it took me to finish one video (music, it's late and I'm drinking and I was feeling nostalgic for the music of my youth) and decide the next one to click on, the entire site seems to have just given up. The next video page loaded but the video itself stayed black for a bit, then the traditional "experiencing delays? find out why" popup appeared for a bit to try to con me into switching to Chrome. And then the video just switched to "video not available."
I figured this is some new bullshit related to them overhauling their interface to make it worse. Such "updates" often cause issues like this for a brief period.
Tried refreshing a few times, same result. Tried other videos, same result. Tried the video I had just watched: same result. Tried videos of other genres. Same result.
I assumed this was the next volley in their war against firefox and adblock, so I switched to Invidious.
Video not available.
Switched instance. Same result.
Grabbed my tablet from where it was charging and opened up Newpipe.
Error. Unable to contact server.
Back to browser on the PC, looked at my own channel. Videos won't load, just caught in an infinite loop of restarting.
Popped over to isitdownrightnow.com to see if maybe there's some actual issue beyond YouTube being a piece of greedy fuck that ignores EU rulings stating that we have the right to use adblockers.
Which could mean nothing. Or some massive part of the internet may have just gone down which is causing problems all over the place.
So uh. Check on all the furries you know, I guess. We might be missing one of the ones propping up the entire internet...
