How to generate strong passwords
Several of my friends were hacked in the past because they used weak passwords without knowing it. I want to tell you the difference between a weak and a strong password.
Any password with only one word in it is weak. There are 10,080 minutes in one week (pun unintentional), so someone could easily run a program to guess the most common 10,000 English words. Even if you add numbers or capitals, a password-cracking program can easily account for this.
A strong password needs to combine multiple randomly chosen words. A four-word password has over a trillion possible combinations, which is easily enough to guard your account.
INSTRUCTIONS
Go to https://xkpasswd.net/s/ and select XKCD from the presets
Go down to Generate Passwords. Press button, receive passwords
Imagine that your chosen password as a newspaper headline or internet meme. There, now you’ve memorized a strong password
Bonus: Use this to generate Tumblr blog names or usernames, or ideas for stories or art.
WI-FI PASSWORD
Warning: You need a stronger password than this for your Wi-Fi password, since your Wi-Fi is a lot easier to hack than Google or Tumblr.
Use the XKCD preset again, but change the following settings:
Words: 9 or 10 words, minimum length 4, maximum length 6
Separator: None (if you chose 10 words, otherwise leave it as is)
Write it down somewhere (you don’t need to memorize it), If your friends have a weaker Wi-Fi password than this, make them change it for their safety.
