At Most Control of Internship
Summers at its peak and I haven't been to a single beach whatsoever. That says a lot: I'm missing a lot. Just one of the perks of the the course we love to hate: Internship.
This summer got me surprised in not so much of a good way; but don’t get me wrong, I had every bit of fun I could have had, it just wasn’t-not at all- what I expected. But I want you to have yours as close as to how you imagined it would be. So here are some tips I managed to list and trim down for everyone happening to drop by:
INTERNSHIP GUIDE 2013 by Me ✌
1. Find/Apply for your dream company as early as the semester prior to internship starts. Companies sometimes really take their time in assessing their applicants, and you don’t want to be waiting until I dont know when for their reply.
2. Collect & Select. This ladies, is the harshest thing you could do to a guy. But don’t fret, it might just be the nicest thin you could do to your ojt. But remember to inform the not so lucky companies of your decision once you make one.
3. Too good to be true? Probably is! Watch out folks! Companies who are desperately in need of manpower surprisingly do this a lot. And once you realize that they just pulled off a con, it might be a little too late. Always & always do a background check. Ask your seniors, professors, or classmates even.
4. Never rely on Job Fairs. I speak for our batch when I say that instead of helping, they cause damage bad. Its just like what I said in 1. They just take years to reply; some longer, and some not even.
5. Pick one that compensates. Salaries or allowances might be too demanding to ask, but you need and deserve it. For one, you are working for them, and you shouldn’t be shouldering fares, food, and other expenses, you’re a freaking student; we have student discounts for the same matter. I’m not saying you do, but it you’re to decide between one that does and doesn’t, think about it.
6. Overtime (OT) is a gift of God. If you can, do. 240hours would be relatively short if you’re working 9-11hours a day.
Thats probably it. Think these things through and I guarantee your summer would be less of a drag than it would’ve been. Kudos!
