Next Exit: We've been building up steam Oh, Ignited by this fight. Sets up the melancholy in that early 2000s New York City grimes way. Space breathes. Atmosphere builds. The drop is gentle and nuanced but cathartic. They know when to pull back or push forward. Excellent craftsmanship for the genre. 8/10 It paints a specific picture of a specific time and place without naming it exactly.
Evil: Rosemary, heavens restores you in life. THAT BASS. It sells the song. It's kind mid but the drums + bass? They're in a relationship. And it pulls back when it needs to. Paul's lyrics. 😂😭🚶♂️ The DROPS. The drops. Still a mid song and the keyboard is ?? but it's not on the level of amusement that is Rammstein Du Hast keyboard part. 😅 6.8/10; bass 9/10 🚶♂️
Narc: Touch your thighs, I'm the lonely one. Daniel Kessler is Kesslering hard here. Mid until you get to the We slips into the bedroom - Babe, you know me, this is alright part - which is the drop where the bass comes in and then Kessler plays with headphones placement before Paul Banks does what Paul Banks does best. 7.5/10; that one Paul Banks part? 10/10
Take You On a Cruise: Along the way, tears drown in the wake of delight. Interpol and letting songs breathe before coming together in harmony is ace. I am the scavenger between the sheets of union / Lately, I can't tell for sure whether machines turn anyone. 7.8/10; bass 9.5/10 Even Kessler does his thing (which can build the atmosphere but it's too high pitched for me sometimes), Paul's lower register vocals and the interplay of the bass/drums grounds the song.
Slow Hands: Yeah, but nobody searches / And nobody cares somehow. The drop with the bass. My god the bass and interplay sells (or saves) some of these songs. 5.4/10
Not Even Jail: I promise to commit no acts of violence / Be it physical or otherwise / If things come alive. Problematic lyrics of 2004. 😅🚶♂️ B-side that made it onto the main album. 🤸♂️ It's very that time period. A time capsule of defining a genre. 👀 4.9/10
Public Pervert: If time is my vessel, then learning to love / Might be my way back to sea. The remix is >>>>. But this original is one of the best songs on the album and has some of the best lyrics for the album.
Oh, so swoon, baby, starry nights May our bodies remain.
There is love to be made So just stay here for this while Perhaps heartstrings resuscitate The fading sounds of your life How many days will it take to land? How many ways to reach abandon? Oh, abandon
So swoon, baby, starry nights May our bodies remain As deep we move, I'll feed you light, baby May our bodies remain

Norman Abandoned
Digital Painting; watercolor and pencil.
Exploring more digital art with Norman fan art. I really wanted to draw him abandon & decayed to capture the feeling of abandonment and the sadness that comes with it. I may do another drawing of abandoned decayed Norman sometime; maybe I will even add tears next time. I love sad tragic art that provokes emotion.
