Amateur book review-Interpretor Of Maladies
Interpretor of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri is a stirring collection of short stories. The prose mostly deals with the lives of men and women who emmigrated to a foreign nation. With souls straddling the US of A and the Indian state of West Bengal, the beauty and charm of these stories lie in the writing style; each sentence convey the subconscious heartbreak experienced by those who are forced to deal with alien emotions in new life situations. An epitome of fine literature, the writer's choices of words to craft her masterpieces are phenomenal. The stories are a mixed bag with characters ranging from a Shobha and Shukumar's confrontation with the death of their child to Mrs Sen's love for whole fish being a cause of turmoil to Mrs Das's big reveal (only for Mr Kapasi's ear) and various others. I would recommend this book for everyone because it captures almost all the feelings humanity is sensitive to in an extremely breathtaking manner.
