While I intended this trip to be just for me, it will and has already expanded outside of me. I don’t want to grip this feeling so tightly. I want to let go of it’s reigns and give it away freely. This is us. I don’t know that intimacy can ever truly be captured. Be it a video, a pause on screen, or print. One moment or a series of pixels populating isn’t the whole. It’s never the entirety. Sometimes I think a post can mock, in a way. A showing off instead an of. It’s all the happy, the joy. The posed. The perfected. The retakes to get it “right” stuff. How many takes to show the world...what. I don’t know. A moment in time. A funny. A kiss. A side-by-side wish. A face that comes up just for the shot. Intimacy, it is not. It’s never the whole. Intimacy is everything. But you won’t find it here. On a screen. It’s unplanned. Full of emotion. Raw and real. Unreeling. You won’t see the upsets. And frustrations. You won’t see much tears, unless they be written, if you even read on. You won’t see the dance and romance in it’s true form. It’s not clear and poised. Sometimes intimacy looks like a battlefield. It’s the way of life. You can’t find it here. Only a snippet of what’s pre-planned to share. We’ve become obsessed with the shot. Like flowered arrangements and orderly dressings. Where has all the mess gone? It’s not for show. Only words can be messy, if paired with a pretty photo. To show the ugly and pretty at once? I don’t know.
