Questions And Short Answers
In Russian, same question may mean different things, and intonations are critically important. Short answers usually repeat the main words, i.e. what was asked about. Here is how it works (bold is for the main words, where intonation rises):
Q: Вы играете тяжёлый рок? - Do you play hard rock? A: Да, играем. Yes, we do.
Q: Вы играете тяжёлый рок? - Do you play hard rock? = Is it hard rock that you play? A: Да, тяжёлый рок. Yes, we do.
Q: Вы играете тяжёлый рок?- Do you play hard rock?= It's you who play hard rock? A: Да, мы. Yes we do.
