THE IRREVERANT BLACK SHEEP OF A GOLDEN KINGDOM built by the hands of wondrous gods and their forefathers before them. They were doomed from the start: a frost giant away from the cold and a warrior trapped in the robes of a lady that wants nothing to do with waiting. Together they’re something close to belonging somewhere, anywhere, even if it isn’t necessarily within the confines of these ancient walls. When Loki speaks to her, she clutches onto every word; perhaps not loudly, but she has always felt a pull to listen to him.
Perhaps it’s because he’s never looked at her like a wilting flower, but more so the thorns that make up the stem -- nonetheless precious, but still dangerous to underestimate. Echo has never once seen Loki as beneath his impossible brother, or anything less than a king on his own right.
They are destined to fail, that much is true. The lady in waiting has experienced so many obstacles despite her advantages, fighting tooth and nail for a seat at the table where there are no seats left. Yet her friend speaks in the midst of her own sorrow and she cannot find a reason to dispute it. The young Asgardian stares with sympathetic blue eyes, half-wishing he would not be so kind to her. It is easier to hold onto sadness with white-knuckled fists than to share it within the way he holds her hands between his own.
"I like you more when you’ve readied a trick all in the effort to anger me,” she admits with a breathy laugh, turning their hands over as her chin ducks with modesty from honesty.
Dissolving with the heaviness that clings to the air around them, Echo allows a moment -- just one moment -- to say what she means without the worry of repercussion. “...I promised you once when we were small to follow you anywhere, your highness. I still hold that promise now, no matter if we’ve won or lost.” She tests the words on her tongue before she speaks, flickering her gaze back to him. “As far as I am concerned, you found me. I already won.”

she thought she had run from the ghosts of her past. but a glimpse of a familiar face made her heart ache with sorrow, longing, and confusion. her body paled as if she had seen a ghost... and maybe she did. “thomas?” she called out- her voice but a whisper as slow footsteps approached. it couldn’t be true could it? he was gone... wasn’t he? of course he was. she had seen his ghost; touched his cheek; cold-- dead. but this wasn’t the golden white specter.... “t-thomas?” she called out again as she stepped closer.
