Dramatism

Before I jump to any analyzing and stuff. It was the first photo we had to choose from, and it was the one that struck me the most. Why? Because now a days, a lot of women go through various diets and sometimes eve starve themselves. Everyone dreams about eating their asses off without feeling guilty afterwards. So this was pretty entertaining and for me, an effective advertisement ☺

So now I need to identify the elements of the print ad that correspond with the dramatistic pentad.

1) ACT- What was done here in this print ad was a woman looking through delicious food. 

2) SCENE- It was done in the 50's or 60's? I'm not really sure.

3) AGENT- The advertising agency did this poster.

4) AGENCY- It was done through a print ad which required a shoot and printing.

5) PURPOSE- It was done to attract people especially women who are very conscious about their weight and how they look.

I am me

According to the symbolic interactionism theory, "I" and "Me" are two completely different concepts. "I" is the spontaneous unpredictable element of the self while "Me" on the other hand is the conformist aspect of the self, and the reflexive, organized aspect of the self (Mead 1934: 197).

Each and every one of us have different personalities when with different social circles. Like with my family, I am mean sometimes and a bully to my siblings

sometimes bullied back...

  But mostly loved for my energy and care at home

 I also am known in the family for being kind, obedient and "innocent"When I'm with my friends, I am just as wacky but much much more kinder to them With my teachers and professors, I am serious, polite, and obedient. The level of my outgoing-ness and hyper activities depend on who I'm with. Whether I am close to them or not. I may have different faces for different people but I am all the same me when you get to know me ☺

Who you?

Altercasting, according to the University of Twente, is a tactic for persuading people by forcing them in a social role, so that they will be inclined to behave according to that role.

There are two basic forms of altercasting, manded and tact.

MANDED

My family tells me who I am or who I am supposed to be practically everyday. Like "As a daughter you should obey my orders..."

"You're a student so don't miss class"

"Being a Christian you should always pray before and after eating"

"You as an artist should always express yourself without limitations"

These statements give a new role or identity for myself. It helps me know who I am and makes me realize who I want and need to be whether I like it or not.

TACT 

As of my understanding on tact altercasting, it is putting ourselves in positions so that people would fully understand who we are and what we do. An example of this form is like a cashier and a customer.

 When a person stands behind the counter and wearing a uniform, people automatically think she is a cashier even though she doesn't need to announce it. The customer on the other hand stands on the opposite side of the counter which labels her to someone who is buying the products from the store.

If you don't know Britney Spears, you're not human. It's either you live in Mars or you're stuck forever in a room of your parents' old records. Everyone knows her music, her style and her life which is a huge open book to the public. During her first decade in the music industry, she became a prominent and well-known figure in mainstream popular music and pop culture, followed by a much-publicized life. Her first few albums established her as a pop icon and broke sales records, while her tracks became number one hits. She was every teen-age girl's role model and idol. She was actually credit for the revival of teen pop in the early 1990's. She was America's Sweetheart. But it seems that her life changed after she got married for 55 hours to Jason Allen Alexander. She got into rehab, got various lawsuits, partied her "panties & thongs" off with Paris Hilton, drunk driving, and dropping her kids, Sean and Jayden. 

News in the tabloid spread like wildfire that she dropped (literally) her son, Jayden in the stairs because she's tipsy. Jayden was rushed in the hospital and got minor injuries but hey, a baby could die in those kind of accidents! Seriously, what is Mommy Spears thinking of carrying her baby when she's all drunk and wasted from a party? In February 2006, pictures surfaces of Britney driving with her son Sean, on her lap instead of the car seat. Child advocates were horrified by the photos of her holding her holding the wheel with one hand and Sean with the other. 

Press people and child advocates call her irresponsible and stupid. "Recent photos of Britney Spears driving with her infant son on her lap are troubling. If she's a responsible mother, she wouldn't have let this thing happen. And while Ms. Spears has acknowledged her mistake, her actions still send the wrong message to millions of her fans." says John Mineta, a child advocate at an event at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to mark the start of Children Passenger Safety Week.

That's not what I meant!

A while ago, I was helping my mother and sister prepare dinner. My older sister was washing some glasses and I was setting the table. Then I heard the glass tumbling around the granite where she was washing. I turned around and catched it as fast as I could. My heart beat went really fast 'cause of the adrenaline and shock. We looked at each other for a second and I said "Oh my gosh ate!". Her vacant look suddenly turned into a frown, as though I have insulted her somehow. She said with a high toned voice, "What?!" I believe that what she thought I meant by my utter was an insult for her being so clumsy. But I was just really trying to express my shock for the incident. This misunderstanding was a Locutionary Act. I wasn't really intending to communicate with her, it was just a sudden utter of words... I probably should have said something like "That was close!" or anything to make her feel better because if it broke it would be her fault and she got shocked the same way I did.
