When designing a workstation, it is critical to provide the user with all of the tools they need within arm's reach.These tools should require little or no training to use. That doesn't require a brain surgeon to figure out. This is where "intuitive engineering" comes in. Ergonomics is built on intuitive engineering.The designer is tasked with creating an environment in which the user can manipulate essential tools while remaining focused on important tasks.
Make it easy on yourself, stupid!
One of the best examples is the automobile industry. Originally, radios, heaters, windshield wipers, and gear shifts were all located in the same location in almost every car.
