So I was watching the Panther Deva episodes on Hulu and the subs translate with Koga calling Inuyasha "Mutt" repeatedly; I've been told the term originally was "inu-koro"? I got curious if that was a literal or "intent" translation, but I don't have the kanji to look it up easily. The closest-sounding listing I found on Jisho was 犬ころ which it says means "pup, puppy,whelp". Is this the term he's using? I know you've read the manga in the original Japanese, so I figured you'd know the kanji.
The word Kouga uses is “Inukkoro”.
KOUGAまさかあの… 犬っころか。Masaka ano… inukkoro ka.You can’t mean… that mutt.
"Inukkoro" (犬っころ) is an aberration of "inukoro" (犬ころ) which is itself an aberration of "inukora" (犬子等). "Inukora" just means "puppies", whereas "inukoro" is more like "pup". "Inukkoro" makes the term derogatory and can mean pretty much any English word for "unfavorable dog" (mongrel, mutt, cur, etc.).
