I was rewatching the ED for the last episode of Inuyasha Final Act and I found particular telling how InuKik and SessKagu are mirrored from 1:40 - 2:02.
In both scenes, Inuyasha hits Naraku’s armour with his sword for Kikyou while Sesshoumaru hits Mouryoumaru’s armour with his sword for Kagura. Then we see Kikyou dying in Inuyasha’s arms and vanish, while Kagura disappears in front of Sesshoumaru.
After all, those two are, respectively, the saddest and the most tragic death scenes of Inuyasha.
I think this says a lot on the nature of Sesshoumaru and Kagura’s relationship and Kagura’s supposed “one sided feelings”. In my opinion, whoever read the manga by paying attention to Sesshoumaru’s character was able to understand his true feelings for Kagura, but seeing SessKagu compared to a canon couple of Inuyasha in the anime confirms everything.
