Alot never was settled over this.
Let me try and explain this.
OG Rin kimono was never truly told to us was Orange the only reason we say so is because of the anime.
If you look at the colors of Kagura and Rins Kimonos they are the a orange dark pink red color..
This is true to form of Rumikos work.
There are databooks but artbooks are done to show fans the colors meant to be seen.
The most I can tell you about the different colors per covers she colored is that Many Manga artist finish each piece with what they have on hand.
So it's not to say anyone actually knows the true color of Kagura or Rins Inuyasha kimonos other then they are close to red or around that area anyhow.
Notice Inuyasha and Kaguras colors are more defined in the first and pure red in the second.
As manga is in black and white otherwise it's never going to officially be closed as Rumiko did not do artbooks for The Inuyasha Series.
Like how Naoko did for Sailor Moon.
Like these two.
Just looking at Kagura different clothes colored on the covers of the manga versus the anime version were they changed her colors.
Her final outfit was not purple pink stripped according to Rumikos work.
It had a golden butterfly and white circle around it not green and lavender Butterfly.
Her colors never changed in the manga.
Rins kimono doesn't look orange on the covers or backs either.
It's the same shaded red pink orange she used for Inuyasha and Kagura.
She has green circles and green bow.
Technically I'm sure Rumiko did what she did with Rin kimono for clot over it.
The more it trends and heated debates happened the more money she made.
