In the Third InuYasha movie, (not canon but shut up) we are revealed that InuYasha's father named him.

InuYasha means half dog.

I shit you not.

Half dog.

I mean, yeah, that's what he is. But damn. Half dog? Shit.

Meanwhile, Sesshomaru is DESTRUCTION OF WORLDS?? HOLY SHIT THAT'S BADASS!

I feel like his mother named him. Because if their father did, it would've been something fucking stupid. 'Full Dog Demon who is my Son' or some shit. Something dumb.

What would've Izayoi named InuYasha? Something sweet but fierce.

Half dog. What the fuck Inu No Taisho.

Okay so I'm sure other people have brought this up, but you know how Kagome have square shaped bangs in the early manga?

Right! And everybody was like, 'woah, is that Kikyo!?'

Then we actually SEE Kikyo.

Very clear, square bangs.

But after a few chapters, Kagome's bangs become triangle.

People usually chalk this up to Rumiko having an inconsistent art style, and yes that could be a factor, my theory is more in story.

So after being compared to Kikyo all her time in the Feudal Era, and then actually meeting her, I think Kagome just decided to change her hair to stop the comments. Because even she acknowledges she doesn't look THAT much like her.

Compare and contrast, you know?

The anime doesn't have this change so when you first watch it, it's like "whaaat, she looks nothing like Kikyo" so that's why reading the manga is so spectacular!

Everybody loves Kagome.

And there's a reason for it.

In 1497, empathy was hard to come by. Everyone was just trying to survive. The wars and violence and death were so prevalent.

Women were married off young, and of they weren't, they were seen as ugly or unlovable, the like.

People had to grow up really, really fast. They had to look out for themselves and their families.

Flash forward to 1997. Teenage girls and boys go to school, date, break up, have homework. Kids are expected to play, maybe get groceries. Parents and general adults can work, can have some free time. Everything is much more chill. Get your occasional flu shot.

Kagome was so full of heart and empathy. Freshly fifteen years old with a loving mom, grandpa, brother, and cat. She lived in a shrine, surrounded by spirituality. She had friends, a boy she might've been interested in, and a life ahead of her.

So being five-hundred years in the past was a shock. But did she become cold? Mean? Hell no.

She was the exact same. Kind, warm, witty, sometimes snappy.

She gave common respect to EVERYONE. And that was weird for the time. She didn't want anything from it. She was just being nice.

And her niceness and usefulness attracted many men.

InuYasha, Kouga, Akitoki Hojo, 1997 Hojo.

But there's more, in my humble opinion.

Jinenji, after learning he could be loved despite his appearance.

That one scholar guy from one of the filler episodes that was also a half-demon, Izumo/Gyuoh.

Naraku for a moment, misplacing his lust on her than on Kikyo before learning Kikyo was back.

Speaking of Kikyo, I wholeheartedly believe Kikyo fell in love with Kagome. Maybe not romantic love, but definitely some sort. Kikyo was cold and cruel, and Kagome was scared and judging. But after continuous saving and attention, Kikyo realized how *warm* Kagome was. How *sweet* and *kind.* There was love there.

Miroku before Sango came around definitely had a thing for Kagome. I like thinking about their friendship being slightly flirty. It's funny.

Chokyukai in that one episode, getting his harem. However, it's noticed that he only did that for her young and pretty beauty. So I hardly count it. Still noting though.

And FUCK IT, Kaname from the InuYasha game with the Cursed Mask!!!! They were CUTE AS SHIT AND RELATED TO EACH OTHER REALLY WELL. FORGET INUYASHA, KANAME, KAGOME IS RIGHT THERE!!

Also Janis. Similar situation.

InuYasha has his mother's face.

Sesshomaru has his mother's face.

Both of them get their father's hair, fangs, and powers. But when they look at their reflection, you know they see their mothers.

Is Naraku cold?

He snatched his body from Prince Kagewaki, the body is likely dead. Do you think he ever dealt with decaying from the body? Was it cold? Lifeless?

We know his heart wasn't even with him majority of the time either. Maybe that's why he was constantly in his Baboon pelt. He was cold, hehe.

Don't even get me started on the scent of him. Sesshomaru and InuYasha describe it as disgusting, or sickening. But when we see Naraku, I mean, he's at the peak of hygiene it seems. Hair is smooth, curly, silky. Makeup is done. He's a fashionista diva queen, really.

Maybe the decomposition mixed with the scent of his makeup, making a sickly sweet, nauseating smell.

Maybe that's why he often switched bodies in the past. Decomposition got to them. Kagewaki was already sick too. I wonder if the smell of his illness added to his scent.

Like Deadpool when he got his powers. His cancer cells just died and were stronger. He was still in constant pain. Wonder if Naraku was the same.

Somebody needs to add body snatching to his resume of crimes on his villain wiki.

Anyway, still would smash.

Kikyo was mean to Kagome? But what about Kagome wishing for Kikyo's death?

EVERYONE BLOWS THAT WAY OUT OF PROPORTION.

Kagome is a fifteen-year-old girl. FIFTEEN!! 15!!

She was experiencing her very first heartbreak, and blamed it on the ex girlfriend.

Kikyo is already dead. Kagome briefly wished for her to disappear from their lives.

Then.

She immediately

REGRETTED IT!!!

She regretted everything she thought. She hated herself for it.

She never, NEVER wished that Kikyo would actually just die. She was just heartbroken that InuYasha still loved her. Her wish for her to disappear was for a small moment.

Then, Kagome does everything in her power to save Kikyo.

Going into that cave to fish her out. Purifying the miasma in her.

And she even tells InuYasha, multiple times, to go see her. The LEAST she wants is to know what they chat about because she's a TEENAGE GIRL.

And we all know how mature your average love-struck kid is.

Kikyo dropped Kagome in a ditch, tied her to a tree as she attempted to drag both herself and InuYasha into Hell, insulted Kagome by implying she only would save Kikyo for InuYasha and not for herself, told the Dark Priestess that she could kill Kagome if she pleased, and, when given the chance, screamed at Kagome for shooting InuYasha, like a hypocrite, which caused Kagome to literally fall down the well and nearly freeze to death.

Kagome was TERRIFIED of Kikyo at certain points. When she was under spells, she was so scared of making the same mistakes as Kikyo that she multiple times endangered her own life to save InuYasha.

And in her dream sequences, both with Tsubaki and in the Final Act, her fear of Kikyo shone through, making her realize that Kikyo wasn't after her anymore, it was her own judgments from the first encounters with her that was stopping her from realizing Kikyo's intentions.

Does that make sense?
