Getting Back In The Game
my brother is a lil over a year since his crash and watching this really hit home for him as well! There were entire sentences that Kevin said during the film that I have heard my brother say, word for word. made him really see hes not alone in this journey. This quote is so important! My brother suffered from a TBI from a motorcycle crash a year ago. I used to look at the pictures from the hospital and right after and would just cry and cry. That didnt help anything, I had nothing to cry about, he was alive and kicking! I dont look at those pictures anymore. I only think about positive times and the future. No hospital pictures....

The Crash Reel is a new documentary that tells the amazing story of TBI survivor and former Olympic hopefulKevin Pearce. My son, Grant Russum (also a TBI survivor) is shown briefly during his rehabilitation at Craig Hospital in Englewood, CO meeting Kevin. This film is an excellent illustration of the impact of TBI, how different it is for each individual, and how important family support can be throughout the healing journey. We are thankful for all the support and thoughts provided on this site. Grant is almost at the 2 year mark in his recovery and back at the University of Colorado Boulder and continuing to recover and make progress. Our family thoroughly enjoyed the film last night as we shared time with close friends and family. As our TBI journey with our son began in Sep 2011, this brought to light so many familiar struggles and situations. This film is an excellent illustration of the impact of TBI, how different it is for each individual, and how important family support can be throughout the healing journey. It was chilling and somewhat surreal to watch Kevin’s journey as there were many parallels with our own experience. The progress Kevin has made is incredible! Our son, Grant was fortunate to meet Kevin and appear briefly in the film during Kevin’s 2 year checkup at Craig Hospital. Grant will be at the 2 year mark this September and is back in school at the University of Colorado. He’s a huge supporter of The Crash Reel and is working to share Kevin’s message whenever possible. We look forward to following Kevin’s journey and hearing more on future chapters in his life! Thank you. #loveyourbrain
