Lichen grows very slowly. A human can destroy in one moment what nature spent many years creating. Machines can clear forests in hours, while the forest needed centuries of rain, insects, darkness, and patience to become alive.
Sometimes modern life feels too fast, consuming things that only grow slowly. What scares me is not only deforestation, but the way humans think they are separate from nature. As if the earth is only a resource, not a living relationship. The forest is treated like property, even though no human planted the first trees.
