How to Make Invisible Message in STEM Activity
Creating invisible messages is a fun STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) activity that involves a bit of science and creativity. Here's how to make invisible messages using a few different methods:
1. Lemon Juice Invisible Ink:
Squeeze fresh lemon juice into a small container.
Use a paintbrush, cotton swab, or a toothpick to write your message on a piece of white paper.
Allow the paper to dry completely.
To reveal the message, gently heat the paper by holding it near a lightbulb or using an iron on a low setting. The lemon juice will turn brown, making your message visible.
2. Baking Soda Invisible Ink:
Mix equal parts of baking soda and water to create a paste.
Use a cotton swab or a paintbrush to write your message on a piece of paper.
Let it dry completely.
To reveal the message, paint over the paper with grape juice or cranberry juice using a brush. The message will appear as the juice reacts with the baking soda.
3. White Crayon Secret Message:
Write your message with a white crayon on a blank sheet of paper.
Then, use watercolors or colored markers to paint over the paper. Your message will resist the paint and remain invisible until the paint dries.
