The Asian Games is a multidisciplinary sports event held once in every four years. Athletes from all Asian countries are welcomed to participate in this event. The Asian Games is recognised by the International Olympic Committee and is the second largest multi-sport event after the Olympics. It has been an eye opener for me and a very humbling experience. I have met some incredible people who never cease to amaze me on how they cope with adversity. I have felt that my work has been invaluable and I am hopeful that a lot of people have found my assistance beneficial. It has been challenging at times and I feel that my previous experience of dealing with the wider community had me well prepared for what I have faced. Overall I have thoroughly enjoyed what I have done and hope to continue my volunteering work for some time yet. I would advise anyone considering being a volunteer to give it a try especially if it a scheme like the one I have been involved with. If you have good communication and listening skills and you are reliable and committed then this is definitely for you. Whatever you do don’t miss out !
