Balder chuckled quietly as he watched Ioren growl in frustration as the game screen had a big “Game Over” text flashing on it. He smiled as he gently put a hand on the elf’s head and stroked his fingers through her hair, before he went behind her, his head leaned over her shoulder as he placed his hands over hers. 

“Here. Let me help you, dear.” Balder said, his voice dark and rumbling as he restarted the game, his focus completely on the game and not on Ioren’s watchful gaze on his face. A chuckle escaped Balder when the game machine bursted out in a retro song and the reward tickets slid out of the small opening in the front. Balder turned his head to look down at Ioren and laughed a little at her frustrated pout, directed at him. 

“You can have anything you want from the rewards, dear. I already won a few reward tickets earlier today, so you can have whatever you want.” Balder said, his voice soft and warm as he leant back and took a step away from her, a mischievous grin on his face as he pulled a pile of reward tickets out of his pockets.

6, 10, & 27 for Ioren+Alistair, Nora+Isabella, & Amaris+Morrigan

Thanks for the ask. :) Sorry for the late reply, I didn’t have time to get to all of these yesterday but I’m working on it!

6. Who is the big spoon?

Ioren/Alistair: Ioren is a huge cuddle top 90% of the time, but sometimes she just wants to be held.

Nora/Isabela: They take turns in pretty equal amounts.

Amatia/Morrigan: These two also take turns, but Amatia tends to be big spoon the most.

10. Do they have pet names for each other?

Ioren/Alistair: These two are the type that come up with a dozen ridiculous pet names as jokes and cycle between them until either they aren’t jokes anymore or they’ve moved onto the next ones. :’) 

Nora/Isabela: Nora isn’t really the type to use pet names because she loves the feeling of saying of Isabela’s name the most, but Isabela has a few for her.

Amatia/Morrigan: Amatia calls Morrigan her little forest creature sometimes and Morrigan pretends to hate it but Amatia says it with such love and adoration that she can’t help but like it. 

27. What makes you excited about their relationship?

Ioren/Alistair: They’re just so cute together! I started shipping them on accident when I was thinking about this scene I wrote about with them making jokes while a little tipsy, and it turned into them kissing and me shipping Ioren with Alistair more than anyone else lmao. Their sense of humor just bounce so well off of each other and it makes my heart happy. Also, I headcanon them as both having a lot of body image issues and being super understanding and supportive with each other about them.

Nora/Isabela: I love that Isabela encourages Nora to let loose and that Nora is so open to new things as long as Isabela is there by her side. Also, I love the tenderness they show each other, and how much they love every inch of each other. 

Amatia/Morrigan: Ugh, I just love the idea of these two mages who come from opposite ends of what could have happened to them, learning to heal from the trauma they both endured together. The world sees them as cold but they see who the other truly is, they see the softness and kindness in each other, especially when it comes to raising Kieran. It’s so sweet.

Fun fact about Ro: She has gigantic and strangely shaped feet, so it’s a huge pain to try to find shoes that fit well. Because of this, once she found a brand and size that fit her perfectly, she bought five pairs of them in case they ever stop making them (which they did, of course). She didn’t factor in the fact that she has such a chaotic life, though, because she’s already gone through two of them already: she died in one pair, and the other got stolen by Clone!Ro. 

Fun fact about Ioren: She’s almost entirely incapable of keeping her quarters at Skyhold free of messes. There’s always things strewn about. She’s not used to living in one place for so long, and once she got over living out of a few boxes, it was like an explosion of clothing and keepsakes went off. It’s not even because she’s a slob, though; she just really does not have the time to clean. Sometimes she will if she has a few days off and it starts to bother her, but it’s rare. Eventually, Josephine hires someone to do it for her.

Ioren is a fidgeter. If there is something around that she can stim with, she will almost certainly pick it up and fidget with it. In the absence of an object, sometimes she uses small zaps of lightning magic. Needless to say, she always has a lot of static electricity around her haha.

Happiness headcanon: When Ioren is feeling kinda down, she hands out flowers from the gardens or treats from the kitchens around Skyhold to unsuspecting people to cheer them and herself up.

30 Day Dragon Age OC Challenge: Ioren Lavellan

In honor of changing my icon to her for Pride, I’m going to (attempt rip) to complete this challenge for my main Inquisitor, Ioren Lavellan!

Day 1: Introduction

Describe your character in 140 characters. Now have your character describe themself in 140 characters. Also provide any of the basic biographical stats you wish: full name, age, pronouns, gender, class/specializations, etc.

Full name: Ioren (eye-OR-ren) “Ren” Lavellan Age: 24 Pronouns: she/her Sexuality: Bisexual Gender: Female, though I don’t think she cares too much about it Class/specializations: Rift Mage focusing on Storm and Spirit

Ioren is a proud member of Clan Lavellan and a powerful mage who was raised to take on responsibility, but not quite so much as she ended up having.

Describing herself: “Well, uh... I’m the Inquisitor, I suppose. They call me the Herald of Andraste but that’s a load of golden halla dung. I’m just an apostate that they gave a useless sword.”

30 Day Dragon Age OC Challenge: Ioren Lavellan

Day 15: Choices

What choices do they make in the main quests of their game? Why? What is the hardest decision they make?

Most of these are pretty self-explanatory given previous days’ answers, but:

The Wrath of Heaven: Denies being chosen by Andraste.

In Hushed Whispers: Allied with the mages.

There wasn’t another choice for Ioren; she wanted the opportunity to help these mages and to give them all the chance to show the world that mages can use their abilities to do good.

In Your Heart Shall Burn: Declared for order.

She wanted to make damn sure that everyone knew what the Inquisition would be with her at the lead: a force for change that Thedas sorely needs. 

Here Lies the Abyss: Grey Wardens rebuilt, Hawke left in the Fade.

This was probably one of the most difficult decisions, and I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t colored by her feelings for Alistair. She still feels guilty.

Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts: Briala rules through Gaspard.

Ioren believes that Orlais is a cesspool of racism, and hopes that perhaps Briala will stick to her word and change it for the better.

What Pride Had Wrought: Respected the temple, drank from the Well.

There was no choice for this either: the temple and the Well are of her people. It was a great privilege to even be there, and an even greater one to have access to the knowledge bestowed by the Well, despite the danger it might put her in.

Doom Upon All the World: Leliana chosen as Divine. 

She trusted that Leliana would make the changes that needed to be done. Ioren would have preferred to put Vivienne in the fancy hat, but her and Vivienne had better opportunities to help mages by establishing mage colleges.
