Missed a biggie
Autocorrect in the browser seems to be off and there doesn't seem to be a way to fix it. I've read many reviews of the device and this never came up. Again I ask: do reviewers actually use these phones?
I don't remember the last time I installed a security suite on a primary computer of mine. I know how to avoid getting viruses and malware. I don't typically need it when I use Windows because I don't get on the internet (using a browser) and I'm behind a firewall. In OS X and on iOS, I couldn't care less about what I click on. I just do it. But on Android? It's a brave new world. Enter Kaspersky. Yeah. Awesome. Yet another battery burning thing to add to the Android stable. I'll see if I can avoid it.
Decision made.
I'm not sure how many people are actually following my posts but since I started this tumblr, I feel the need to end it. Well, not end it since its been kinda fun but at least update it with my current decision. I've decided to stay with my iPhone. Why? Well, ultimately the things I'm going to miss the most about the Galaxy Nexus have nothing at all to do with the device itself and nothing even to do with Android. It has to do with the LTE I'd be giving up. And since Verizon's LTE seems to be doing a lot of giving up itself lately, maybe that's not a bad thing. Ok. Maybe that's not entirely fair to Android and ICS specifically. There were some really nice things about the OS. For example, the Gmail support is amazing. Considering I've got 7 Gmail accounts for various things and dozens of labels, I'm going to miss that. I'm also going to miss the Google Voice integration with the phone since I use it for my business and while workable on the iPhone, always felt like a lot of work. I'm going to miss the notification light. I'm going to miss the home screen widgets. I'm going to miss the endless wonder that awaits in the myriad settings. An Android phone is one that you will never get bored with. If you love tech and fiddling with tech, it's hard to turn down the allure of the endless possibilities. I know I'm going to to miss all that stuff and as a complete geek at times it's going to be hard. But not having those things will not make me reach for another device if my iPhone is at hand. What I found myself doing more often than I would have liked over the past 12 days was looking for my wife's iPhone. I had to pause multiple times before taking a picture of my kids, for example, to make sure I'd be ok potentially missing the shot or having it come out subpar. I have thought about what device to pack and would be hooked up to the stereo in the car on our 10 hour drive to Florida. Nothing, however, was as damning to using the Galaxy Nexus as the thought of having to use it at Disney World over the next week. Would it be able to make it through the day? Would I be able to get the best possible photo with the only camera I had on me at the time? Because the Galaxy Nexus left me with very big question marks in these areas (and if I'm honest with myself answered these questions with resounding "no"s) I had to cut the experiment short. It was damned fun and has me super-excited about a larger screen, higher resolution iPhone with LTE. And that says a lot. About the iPhone.

What does This American Life sound like set to a background of Lately? Not good.
Apparently, you can have two programs playing audio simultaneously. Two streaming programs, no less. In this case, it was Pocket Casts and Spotify. I imagine that these apps are at least decently programmed so if it were possible to prevent this sort of thing, it would be done.
Another random reboot
Some searching and reading around the web makes me think that my reboot from the other day isn't an isolated incident either for me or others. And earlier today, I got caught in something of a reboot loop that took about 5 minutes to get out of. You can see in the battery graph I have posted that the phone was clearly unhappy during this time. This is a zoomed out look at the battery meter. You can see the precipitous drop in the middle of the graph. I've overlain the usage stats over the graph to see what was causing the drop. Nothing is apparent except the network connectivity was lost for the only time all day during that period. That's the reboot cycle. Nothing is doing anything but burning battery. I'll keep my eyes on that graph to see if this happens when I'm not paying attention, too.
Autocorrect
Why does it leave some clearly misspelled words and not others?
Bity is not a word. Neither is bith but that gets corrected to both. It’s also inconsistent because bith wasn’t corrected earlier. I don't think I’ve ever had so many incorrectly spelled words on iPhone. Some were definitely autocorrected incorrectly but they weren’t jibberish words. I’m not sure which is worse.
