Apple brought a number of its star features together when it launched the iPad.  These functions and features, which have been totally integrated, include the iPad itself, the iOS operating system and the functional rich applications. 

As with any hi-tech product, you need to look after and care for your iPad.  Applying a level of care will help ensure that the number of instances where you will require either technical support or hardware repair will be reduce.  The sections below include some tips on how to go about taking care of your device.

Apple’s Care Plan

Apple provides coverage for their products in two different ways.  At the point of sale, Apple provides complimentary product coverage for every iPad.  An AppleCare Protection Plan is also available and sold on an individual product basis.

The complimentary product coverage includes a standard limited warranty over a period of one year from purchase date.  Apple also provides complimentary technical telephone support for 90 days. 

The AppleCare Protection Plan must be purchased while the device is still covered by the standard limited warranty.  It provides an additional two years coverage providing integrated service and support once the complimentary coverage has ceased.  It ensures your device is covered for a total of 3 years from the original purchase date.  If you want to cover more than one product, you have to purchase cover for each product individually. 

Purchase of the Plan gives access to award winning technical support.  You can get answers for technical questions about hardware, OSX and Apple applications such as iWork.  The repair coverage is global, with various service options.  This feature ensures your device can be repaired no matter where you may be in the world. 

General Maintenance

It is essential that you care and treat your device as you would any portable electronic device.  This will help ensure that it is always working and available for you to use.  A tablet is a relatively delicate product, packed with electronics and therefore a light touch should always be used.

The screen of the tablet has been designed to repel oil found on fingers.  Gently wipe the screen to remove any fingerprints on the device. 

Do not use any cleaning solutions or solvents to clean your tablet.  These products will cause permanent damage.

Purchase products which have been developed to extend the life of tablet.  Use specially sized screen protectors to stop the screen being scratched by dust and dirt.

Finally, to help make your battery last longer, make sure you fully charge your battery once a month and then let it run down totally.
