In my Video Production class, we were recently designed to an engineering project. The task? Design a functional tripod of an iPad or iPad Mini. After a few minutes if brainstorming, my idea popped into my head. Greatly inspired by 3D Manoeuvre Gear; the military harness worn in the Japanese animation show Attack on Titan, my design is to be used for filming while walking, essentially creating a hands free vlogging experience. The system itself is made up of three major components; the straps that make up the harness, the adjustable distance control and the stand itself. The device works by securing the user in a lightweight but tight fitting harness to secure the device in place. From the straps that stem from the waist area, two lightweight metal bars reach outward on a lockable ball pivot. This allows the user to easily and freely adjust the angle and position of the camera. The final part of the device is made up of a clamp like structure which securely holds the iPad in place. Stemming from the clamp is a form of brace to steady the iPad and hold it still in the clamp. This device would be useful for vloggers or possibly even film makers. Thanks to the front and back camera design of the iPad, the user would be able to film from both cameras, thus creating a hands free filming experience.
