When you know God created you... When you know He walks beside you. Then you can walk in confidence. Yesterday we went shopping; two of the kids got to spend some money. Two kids were left home because it didn't work in our schedule to bring them. When we got home one of the boys was boasting about his purchases. He wanted the other kids to admire him for the stuff that he now owned. It puzzled him that the other children did not look at him differently just because he had some stuff, even cool stuff. It is sad to watch the struggle as our children grow and learn their own self-worth. It can't come from people, they're as variable as the wind. It can't come from stuff for it goes out of fashion, decays, or we tire of it. It can't come from food or drink for it is gone in a few hours. It can't come from watching the latest movie or playing the most recent video games. However, self-worth and it's companion confidence can be found knowing the Christ came to save you. It's knowing that God is there beside you to help you when times are tough. It's trusting the offer a hope and salvation. It's letting go of the fallacy that we are in control. It's a fearless lack of worry in all kinds of situations that God has your back. I love that!! You don't have to be a kid to trust Him like a Father.
