Idk who needs to hear this right now but I promise someone does so please PLEASE listen to me
you can write medical drama and injuries WITHOUT the character needing to flatline and tbh it would be very difficult for a character to only have bruising and mild to moderate blood loss and flatline with no other ill effects (what caused the flatline again? The blood loss wasn’t to that point yet and the bleeding had stopped hours before anyway)
You can still have catharsis and other characters having an emotional reckoning about how much they love someone without the flatline and maybe do some medical research, your nurses and doctors are not only committing HIPAA violations they are actively killing their patients more often than not. You don’t do operating theatre surgery in an ambulance (WHY WAS THE SURGEON IN THE AMBULANCE) you don’t have the full fancy setup that features in the medical dramas in there
also. don’t underestimate how much worse staying conscious is. you know what’s scarier for everyone? needing to be put under for treatment and they are terrified. you know how much it hurts when someone you love is in pain AND terrified? so much better than a flatline (or 12, guys really, there WILL BE negative effects from that, you don’t just walk off that many flatlines in 24 hours)
