Shazza Mckenzie To Challenge Candy Lee For The IPW New Zealand Women's Championship
This Saturday – May 19th, 2018 we will see Candy Lee defend her IPW New Zealand Women’s Championship against the debuting Shazza McKenzie at IPW NZ’s 15th Anniversary event.
History was made at IPW:NZ’s Nightmare Before Christmas show, when transgender wrestler Candy Lee defeated IPW:NZ Women’s Champion Britenay to become the company’s new Women’s Champion, becoming the first-ever transgender New Zealand Champion.
This show will also mark the very first time Australia’s Shazza McKenzie will wrestle in New Zealand. Fresh off an international tour of North America that saw Shazza wrestle for promotions such as PROGRESS, SHIMMER, NOVA Pro, Black Label Pro, RISE, and IWA-Mid South McKenzie has her eyes set on gold.
“I’m very excited to be facing her. She’s what we call an ‘Indy Darling’ and an Australian wrestling icon. I know it will be extremely challenging. She is very experienced, she’s even wrestled on TV for NXT. I’ve been studying her matches; some of our style in ring is quite similar, it might end up being the battle of the Split Leg Drop! I’ve really focused on cleaning up my diet so I can perform at my best, and I’m in the gym every day. When IPW XV arrives, I know I’ll be ready for her.” – Candy Lee speaking to Gay Express about facing Shazza McKenzie
The best in New Zealand takes on the best from Australia in this huge trans-tasman battle.
Come celebrate a decade and a half of Impact in style at the Lynfield Rec Centre in Lynfield, Auckland, New Zealand, in a night that celebrates the history of IPW NZ and the future of New Zealand wrestling.
