Another recent addition to my Delta 723 Clone

In order to mount an old Laser Bracket and still be able to use the Weaver Scope Mount, unit guys would drill two extra holes on the carry handles of their CAR15's with corresponding threads tapped on the weaver mount.

These screws would allow the laser bracket to install in its usual method of a raised peg through the default optic mounting hole.

In order to do this, I had a few custom 3D-printed jigs made that allow me to mark the spots for drilling on both the carry handle and the weaver mount, respectively. They also work well as single-use drilling jigs.

Drilled the front hole on the upper slightly off center sadly, but not because of the jigs, but because of my sucky-ass drill press. Probably could have done it straighter by hand, but a bit of widening with a needle file fixed it right up.

This isn't the upper that's going to be on the final final build anyway, so I'll do better once I get the upper with slightly more kosher markings in.

So I'm currently holding on to a Somogear PEQ-15/ATPIAL clone for a friend but ofc I'm taking the opportunity to fuck with it while it's in my hands for the time being

First impressions are good, but dubious The plastic definitely looks and feels like glass-filled nylon despite the reputation these have to crack around the pic mount idk maybe people are cranking these down too hard

The only parts that really scream china quality so far is the rubber used on the diffuser caps and the remote port dust plug feels like cheap silicone, but not that big an issue I suppose Especially considering Steiner units have just as dubious quality cap retention so I've heard

All the metal parts feel relatively high quality and both the selector knob and all the buttons have satisfying positive clicks not mushy whatsoever Hell, even the modbutton clone it came with feels decent quality for an airshit product the cable isn't shiny and plasticy and it has an actual insight-style crane plug, not a 3.5mm audio jack like so many airsoft lasers use

But even if the plastic body doesn't shit the bed and stress fracture over time, supposedly the real major downfall of the homogear units is their lack of proper coaligned zeroing. They hold zero fairly well, but the coalignment between the designator and the illuminator isn't quite there

But it's also a sub-$300 Chinese laser so what do you honestly expect lol

As soon as I get some spare burning money, I may end up getting one of these for myself Not necessarily to use as my primary IR laser device, but just something to fool around with for fun I have an AIM-1/D and two PAQ-4/C's, all of which are full power, so I'm not exactly hurting too badly in the laser department lol

Also ignore the flash hider on my SPR, I know it isn't timed properly, I'm gonna be sending the barrel out to get properly profiled for an AE Suppressor Collar

IT Lasers Inc. AIM-1/DLR Aiming Designator

In most of the post-1993 photos of Delta using the AIM-1 series lasers on the Model 723 Carbine, the DLR model seems to be the most common over the original AIM-1/D.

The DLR can be identified by the extended guard protruding from the diode window (however, some of the early DLR models had the same flat glass diode window as the original AIM-1/D model.) This feature allows it to mount an accessory lens cap or a special blue diffuser cap with a variable density aperture (both of which are sadly missing with my example).

The unit I received also came with a PVS-4 rail grabber mount, which with some examples, were machined with a wider countersink and a custom slot to fit the laser in place of the typical carry handle/bracket adapter block.

Admittedly, my unit is in much poorer aesthetic condition than my AIM-1/D, but both work equally the same, and really I was just after the proper remote cable that the DLR kit came with.

My unit was assembled August 1995 and inspected on Christmas of the following year.

I've made a post about mounting the AIM-1/D on a PAQ-4 Carry Handle Bracket before, but I was missing a crucial accessory for it at the time -

Litton provided a bracket adapter specifically for mounting these lasers on said brackets, and so I managed to get myself a reproduction of the same.

While I do plan on making my own replicas eventually, this one here is actually made by the folks at 2nd Amendment Co. LLC, who occasionally makes them in small batches.

The tolerances of the slot were a bit too tight, but not tight enough that I couldn't seat it with a nylon mallet, and it works perfectly fine otherwise.

Now I just need to hunt down an AIM-1/DLR to replace my current AIM-1/D (and not to mention drill the extra holes in the carry handle so I can use a weaver scope mount at the same time lol).

A very bizarre offset rail mount for AIM-1/D series lasers

Comprised of a standard AIM-1/D Carry Handle Adapter bridged to a weaver mount using a crude piece of sheet aluminum welded between them.

When I originally got it, it was coated in liquid latex and I've since repainted it. The screws and lock nuts for the rail clamp do not appear to be original - I believe the original hardware would have been a pair of fixed crossbolts with thumb nuts.

Has anyone ever seen a mount like this? I'm uncertain if it was custom-made or something I.t. Lasers/Litton might've offered.

I decided to move the DBAL A2 back a little bit to clear up space for a dedicated flip-up front sight.

Something about the lack of anti-rotation geometry on the Railscales LEAF just rubs me the wrong way :V

Having it back here also gives me more instantaneous access to the controls on the unit itself. Though I'll need to see how much (if any) IR splashback I get from the illuminator before I fully commit to this arrangement.

Some of you may have noticed that my DBAL no longer has its default rubber dust caps and I've since added a neutral density filter to the laser side to cut back on the bloom of the full power laser.

...Now if only OpticsPlanet would hurry up and ship the fuckin Diffuser, I could call this laser setup complete >:V
