Learned today: Just like #batair, #teetar also "flush upwards" when startled or alarmed. Ajeeb. 🤷 I was moving their crate outdoors today, when two of them got startled en route, and JUMPED like goddamned kangaroos. Gave me 3.8 instant heart-attacks. 😒 (They're fine. I'm fine too, but 3.8 heart attacks is a close call 👀) Their crate was going outdoors because they're big enough to shift into their own aviary now; moving them outdoors in a covered crate will give them time to acclimatise in stages, before they're shifted to their aviary in a week. And boy, am I glad that I have these 7 days! Because the aviary that I had prepped for them was only 2.5 feet high (so it would be easy for me to clean.) I had no idea that these dumbasses also "flushed upwards." Now I've got to turn the whole-ass structure into a 7 ft walk-in thing with a padded roof like #quails, so that - a. They don't crash into the roof and break their stupid necks if something startles them; b. Accessible + I'll still be able to clean without needing to bend and destroy my back. What the fuck is honestly wrong with these birds?! The fuck kind of useless-ass, suicidal defense mechanism is this even? "OHAI, PREDATOR. I WILL ESCAPE YOUR CLUTCHES BY... JUMPING 5 FEET VERTICALLY INTO THE DAMNED AIR AND FALLING RIGHT BACK HERE IN THE SAME SPOT WITHIN YOUR REACH AGAIN." Wut?! 🤷 #iraniteetar #teetar #francolin #francolinbird #greyfrancolin #karachi #pakistan https://www.instagram.com/p/BzBhpOJnklP/?igshid=1hmbke2zk7mfm
