“Can you tell me what happened?” (irategenius)
Post-trauma sentence meme || @irategenius
This is always one of the risks, isn’t it?
Natasha’s always known it, has always been more aware of what she puts on the line every time she accepts any kind of op. linked to Department X than anyone else. The Red Room has never taken kindly to losing their property, after all, and she’s always known the lengths they might go to, has always known they’d have no qualms in using every resource available to them.
She’s lucky, god she’s so lucky, that she even still knows who she is.
That hasn’t always been the case.
“I don’t…” Doesn’t remember, is still having a hard time differentiating between what’s real and what’s not. For all she knows, this isn’t actually Bruce, maybe it’s some figment of her imagine, a fracturing mind’s desperate attempt to create some sense of comfort and familiarity. Maybe it’s an agent trying to get more information out of her — she can’t risk that, she can’t say anything that could be pertinent. She needs to keep her secrets, she needs to keep as many people safe as she possibly can, she can’t — “No.”
And at least this isn’t a lie, in the event that it’s real, that he’s real.
She can’t tell him what happened.
Just like every other time.
