"You're better on your own."
“Noona, please just stop-..”
The male trudged behind helplessly, following Joohyun around like a lost puppy. Even if she was older, you would think having a height advantage would allow him to intimidate her, or his longer legs would let him catch up to her with ease. However, his attempts to reach out to her proved fruitless; No matter how many times he tried to touch her arm, she would flinch violently and shake him off without fail, storming away even quicker than she did previously. Her screams of “go away” and “I never want to see you again” only confused him even more.
He had never seen her this mad before.
Joohyun had come into his life like an elder sister - She always cared for him without fail, loved him like her own, and was everything he could ever ask for. And yet, here she was, the complete opposite of the girl Jongin came to know and love. The spark in her eyes was gone. Along with any desire for her to continue to stay with him, and look out for him. And Jongin didn’t even have a clue as to what happened.
“Why are you doing this?” The brunette yelled at the cold back facing him, the slight quiver in his voice showing that he was just about as worked up as she was. His hands balled up into fists at his side, at a complete loss of what to do. Jongin needed his Joohyun Noona. They were two peas in a pod. Inseparable. He wasn’t going to let someone who made themselves so important in his life just leave without a valid explanation.
And yet, her lips stayed sealed despite his continuous shouts for some kind of reason. She couldn’t tell him-.. She couldn’t afford to hurt him even more than she already was. Joohyun wanted so badly to explain that it was harder for her than it was for him, but the words became lumps in her throat, and the only thing she could do was try her best not to break down in front of Jongin. This boy was her everything, but she couldn’t stay any longer. The older let out a long, shuddering breath as she caressed the male’s cheek, and Jongin only continued to search her eyes with desperation.
"You’re better on your own."
And with that, she walked away without sparing a glance back. Perhaps it was good she hadn’t. The grief would’ve been too much for either of them.
