I love how in the beginning they put the iris code in and then the iris would open for them and then later on they put the iris code in and the SGC gets the code and only then opens the iris manually. And sometimes they don't even put the code in at all because its inconvenient for the plot of the scene and somehow still end up fine on the other side.
