It did not take long for the letter to reach him, the day before had rained and as the young maiden of water was apt to do, she wrote letters to speak with those she could not entertain. On many a stormy day he had spent time with his dear niece, fond games and stories shared, he did his best to keep her out of trouble. Irisaeya was so very important to her family, to her land, she still did not grasp the role she played.
But she was still young, and she did not understand the way of things, once again he would have to play this role.
My Dear Irisaeya,
It once again fills my heart with warmth to hear from you. While I am off doing work for the Dawnspire know that my thoughts and dreams are never far away from Goldsea. It is though with a heavy hand that I will have to remind you my dear niece that you are the Maiden of Waters, a role that was given to you at birth. One that cannot be taken lightly.
It is by the Maiden’s hand that the water of Goldsea is pure and plentiful, it is by your hand that our land is fertile and produces new yield. I know full well the pain of having your lot in life chosen, but I implore you once again to remember the greater good. Your presence in Goldsea feeds our land, feeds our people and makes the Dawnspire stronger. Your duty is an honor that has been passed down for generations. No one else can complete this task.
With a great deal of regret I will have to decline your request. Your Mother as well as I know of the value of your station. That being said I am not a heartless man, I do know that in these times of new growth, life in the palace may be filled with drudgery. I assure you, I will provide you with ample work and entertainment to assist you over the summer.
Please know my dear niece, that this is my perspective, and that I love you so very much, but your place is Goldsea.
