Adjustable Table E-1027

The E-1027 side table was designed for the villa of the same name and is now considered Grey’s most famous project. Like many other objects by the Irish designer, it is part of the permanent collection at the MoMA in New York and many other prestigious international institutions. The table is made of metal tubing with a top in crystal or smoked glass. It is adjustable, making it adaptable to the needs of its environment. It is an elegant and timeless piece of furniture.

Eileen Gray Bibendum

(1926) Polished chromium plated tubular steel base. Fully upholstered seat, back and armrests covered in fabric or leather in various colours. H 730mm SH 410mm W 900mm D 780mm *Eileen Gray used this chair in a few of her interiors. The design was influenced by the then famous 'Bibendum' Michelin Man of inflated tyres, which remains Michelin's trade mark. She was also jesting that this was her response as a feminist to Le Corbusier's 'Grand Confort'.

Eileen Gray Petite Coiffeuse

(1926) Small dressing table. Polished chromium plated tubular steel frame. Cabinet fitted with two pivoting drawers and one hinged door. Top and cabinet in high gloss lacquer in various colours. O/all H 845mm Top H 760mm W 640mm D 400mm Bottom frame D 475mm *This dressing table and the Castellar mirror were designed for a small flat in Paris. Although there was very little room, she held that no 'self-respecting lady' would not have at least a 'petite coiffeuse'. The pivoting drawers were an innovation at the time, and 'a bit of an experiment'.
