Irma’s getting busy with the autobots. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Right now.
Keepin it real during Irmageddon. LETS KICK ITS BUTT. I'm in southwest Orlando.
Irmageddon Update
Power just went out. Hopefully it comes back on as we are still about 8 hours out from the storm getting here. Thankfully, I'm a smart fat girl and had JUST finished dinner. Main course was done and veggies had 30 seconds left. Score for one last hot meal!
Let's have a category 4 cookout boiz
As of this morning, Irma has moved a bit further west of me so I’m not in line for a direct hit. I believe all my Tampa / St. Pete friends have evacuated at this point. (They’re low-lying and on the coast. Orlando is central and I’m on the east side of Orlando so now further away from the eye.)
I’m still expected to see winds up to 70mph. I’m likely to lose power and internet. Everything from the yard has been crammed inside. I have food and water. A full tank of gas because it may be awhile before we can get gas after the storm. Tampa is a main port.
Right now it is just weirdly quiet. The occasional crow or a neighbor walking a dog while they still can but the constant background noise of cars in distance is gone. No one is out on the roads because there is no where to go and no one wants to waste gas. I’m spending the time working on edits for the novel - at least until the power goes out.
So! Hurricanes! F-, do not recommend. I am sheltered as I am going to get in House Gingerfell, and plan to use every available moment until we inevitably lose power to faff and faff and faff again to amuse and distract myself. (Early dinner is in the oven, so let’s hope it’s finished before the power goes.) And then there will be books galore—indulging myself in trashy historical biographies and anecdotal science and etc—and munchies, and, well, we will just do the best we can. All the contact-lens-wearing newscasters are wearing their actual glasses, televised sporting events have been bumped from main to sister stations, the meteorologists have rolled up their shirtsleeves, and I’m not getting any obnoxious work-related weekend emails, so you know shit’s gone real. Woop woop.
