"Of course my voice cracked. It does that any time I get worked up, including during a fight." Astarion replied with a roll of his eyes. "And Wyll is a sentimental fool. I was wiping the blood off my face and giving it a taste out of curiosity. Nothing more. The only reason I turned away was because Lae'zel always glares at me whenever I try to feed after a battle as if she's making sure I don't try to eat any of you."

"Did you miss the part where I said you were my favorite meat shield, of course I don't want you to be gone." He scoffed but didn't move away when she approached.

She was impossibly tall and muscular, Lyrazel thought. And boy could she ever tear through a place and leave it in ruins. What Karlach had done to the old building and the "paladins" inside of it was nothing short of awe-inspiring. And she wasn't even a mage.

That kind of power. That's what she wanted for herself. She wanted that confidence too. She had a fair amount of it, but this... this was on another level. She couldn't help but look at Karlach with stars in her eyes like she'd met a celebrity.

"Very impressive," she told the barbarian. "You nearly razed the building with only your axe and your fury. I bet nobody gives you any grief."

The height difference between them is almost ridiculous but raising on the tips of his toes to kiss her is well worth it after not being able to touch, let alone kiss, her for so long.

Her lips feel better than he'd ever imagined it and he likes how eager Karlach can get. It leaves no room for second guessing whether she actually wants this or not.

Eyes flutter shut, one hand moving to cup her cheek while he balances himself on the tips of his toes. It is a kiss that they both are enraptured in.

All of a sudden, however, there's a stinging pain in his lip that causes him to suddenly gasp into her mouth. Next, he tastes the coopery taste of blood. He draws away from the kiss, "You....bit me?" Before she can question whether that is a bad thing or not, Astarion laughs and it's not his fake laughter, he's deeply amused.

He forgets that he's not the only one with fangs, Tieflings tend to have them too. "Usually I'm the one that bites people, darling. If I had known we were biting each other, I may have sank my fangs into your pretty little neck by now."

did i miss something? are we going into battle?

the usual routine of breaking camp was going a little bit faster than usual this morning; whispers of a few goblin sightings ( no confirmed sightings, but a whisper was more than enough for her ) in the area meaning the more they lingered in one place, the more likely they'll be setting themselves up for unwanted breakfast guests. still, considering how late they'd all been up the night before, she'd thought it best to let karlach get at least a few more minutes of sleep before it was time to move on for the day --------

but that well - intentioned opportunity for extra rest might have been the wrong way to go about it, especially seeing how the tiefling is reacting to waking up in the middle of the commotion instead of being there from the start. ( but honestly, what did she expect? karlach not wanting to crack a few skulls first thing in the morning would have worried her more than the roving packs of goblins. )

"full - on battle? probably not. light skermish maybe? there's some goblins in the area," she smiles an apology as she kneels down to finish tying up her bedroll, motioning for karlach to pass hers over as well --- rolling hers up too feels like the least she can do. "anyway, wyll and i have a bet going on how far you can drop - kick one of 'em. i'll buy you a drink when i collect if you want."

A Tail for the Ages continued

Astarion knew what he had done was unforgivable. He hadn't wanted to do it but he had quite literally had no choice in the matter at that point since he had still been under his master's control. Now it was different. He chose his own actions.

That didn't stop him from feeling guilt and shame over what he had done however. He was about to speak from that place of shame when he felt something on his leg. He looked down to see a red tail wrapping around him just as Karlach spoke up in his defense. He might not know all the details about Tiefling tails but he had noticed hers reacting to her emotions so he could only assume this must mean something.

The gesture and her words helped to bolster him. So that rather than shame his voice rang with confidence when he spoke.

"And here I thought you were monster hunters. Surely you know the difference between a Spawn and a True Vampire." Astarion sneered, taking a careful step forward so that tail would stay around his leg. The movement also brought him just a bit closer to Karlach's side.

"Do you really think I had any say or choice in the matter? Or did you just conveniently forget that normally Spawn can't go against their Master's orders. Cazador was the one who wanted your children. Not me. I was just the tool he used to get them." He continued while looking thoroughly unimpressed with the group of Gur before him.

"My dear Karlach, since when have we let closed establishments stop us?" Even if the bar is closed, one good kick from Karlach or a lock to pick for Astarion and they'd easily make their way inside.

After all they've been through, raiding the bar for a much needed drink sounds like a wonderful idea. Will they get in trouble? Maybe. Does he care? Not really.

"What do you say, love? Shall we make our way inside anyway?"

@iron-hearts-ablaze sent [ GIVE ]  sender wipes their own blood off their skin then puts their blood-stained fingers to receiver’s mouth for them to lick clean. 

Her engine has had it's second upgrade which means she shouldn't burn him. Does he want to find out though? A moment of hesitation and he decides her blood smells far too tasty to ignore it as she holds two fingers up to his mouth.

It is not what he expects of Karlach but she's always been full of pleasant surprises to him. He doesn't say anything, only locks eyes onto hers and leans forward to drag his tongue slowly along her fingers to collect every little bit of blood she's coated her fingers with in slow deliberate licks.

"Two bingos, hm? Not bad, red. As far as feeding on you.....well, perhaps once we fix that heart of yours. I did rather enjoy the taste of your blood."
