“  sir.  ”    usually,  if jarvis interrupts his creator in the midst of his lab work,  it is to inform him that there are visitors,  or to suggest that sir should take a break from whatever it is he’s doing.   this time,  it is neither.   oft - toneless voice is slightly strained for once,  which is regrettable.   never does jarvis wish to be a cause of stress for mister stark.    “  sir,  i believe there is a glitch in my code.  ”

   Peter has never been good at holding back his emotions. He does it all the time, or at least...tries to. The kid just FEELS too much, a heart too strong with more empathy than he can bare to shoulder sometimes. So when he’s standing at the funeral amongst every single one of his childhood heroes...he’s left trying his best not to cry. He lasts for at least a little while, eyes burning and forcing him to blink back the tears, attempting to focus on May’s hand resting on the small of his back. But he can’t help it...he’s lost too much-- he LOOKED UP to Mr. Stark, he found a hero, someone there for him, a mentor, a father figure. And the grief weighing down on him combined with seeing everyone else react in similar manners as well...the tears begin to fall. 

   But that’s over with now. Now, he’s sitting near the lake, legs hanging over the edge of the dock as he stares out at the rippling water-- in the distance, he can still see the arc reactor, floating amongst the leaves and flowers. There’s a pain in his chest that doesn’t seem to go away, red-rimmed and puffy eyes trained on the floating memorial. He’s embarrassed for crying-- he’s already the KID of the team, he doesn’t need to act weak. But he’s alone now...everyone else is inside. He’s sure someone has noticed, but he’s guessing they think leaving him to himself for a while might help or something. He still feels like shit. 

   “It’s not fair-” He mumbles underneath his breath, UNSURE why he’s even talking. It’s not like Mr. Stark can hear him. But he keeps going. “I don’t get it...I-- it’s always, I have something good, and then-- it gets taken away, what am I doing wrong?” Lifting his head slightly, he glances at the sky, the stinging in his eyes returning and blurring the sky above him. “I’m sorry, Mr. Stark. I-- I know it’s my fault, everyone-- they-- they die ‘cause of me, and-- and I’m the one constant, and I could’a gotten the gauntlet off, if-- if I was good enough...I know you wanted me to be better than you, but I...I don’t know if I can-” He blinks, and the tears track down reddened cheeks again, the kid lifting a hand to cover his mouth as he resists the muffled sob that tries to force its way out. “What am I- what am I doing?” He gets out between cries. “I dunno, I know you’re not actually listening, I just...” 

             “I’m sorry.” 

                                    “I’m gonna miss you a lot-”
