An exercise in bloggery.
I have been sat here now for a severe amount of minutes thinking to myself “Damn. I really thought I was more interesting than this”. Mainly because I cannot seem to find something eloquent and meaningful to talk about in today’s post. I feel, personally, that each post should have a point or a story behind it to get things moving. But then that leads to other problems. For example, what if the point of that post is to not have a point? What am I meant to do then, just leave a breadcrumb trail towards something that looks suspiciously like a valid point but then disappoint people right at the end when it just turns out to be something that obviously never had a point, like wars based on religion. Or a Kardashian.
Or, I might end up overly categorising my posts, giving them such eloquent and definitive points, that each post would start to sound like the voice over at the end of a medical drama. You know the kind. At the end of each episode, they do a slow motion pan through all the story lines of that week’s episode and all the handsome and unrealistic doctors involved in them; a dim cadence of saddening music is in the background as an audible signal that today’s emotional roller-coaster is nearing the end (please keep your hands and feet within the emotional roller-coaster at all times, we don’t want you getting yourself all covered in feels and blood) and then the voice of the main protagonist suddenly booms in with “you know what’s funny about life?” and continues on to tell you a) what is not funny about life and b) how their own personal life is now changed somehow even though next episode this amazing life breaking revelation is now just forgotten. Forever.
I don’t want to end up doing that. Although, I do get a sneaking suspicion that Hollywood are now about to seize my accounts, send out agents to put a bag over my head and then blackmail me into writing the next big medical drama hit to sweep the globe. I would write the shit out of that thing, but I am choosing not to (no matter what they may have on me) because I want to write something that has purpose. And yes I see the irony. I cant miss the irony. The irony is dancing around nearly naked in front of me sporting a sombrero hat (hence why only nearly naked) shouting “ OH I AM THE MIGHTY LORD OF IRONY, SEND ME YOUR FINEST MEATS AND WOMEN”. It’s rather off putting if I'm honest.
But yes, I am aware that I have dedicated a very long post to the worth of having a point, and yet so far I haven’t really presented one. It could be worse.
It could be another Nicholas Cage movie.
