New Construction of Landfill Gas-to-Energy Facility

The Irwin Industries-built Gas-to-Energy facility at a southern California landfill uses methane from landfill waste and repurposes it as an energy source to produce up to 11.4 MW (net) of electricity. Irwin provided engineering, procurement, direct labor and general contracting services for the new facility which consists of three Solar Mercury 50 gas-turbine generators and all associated equipment, landfill gas conditioning and compressing systems and a maintenance and control building.

Excavation, grading and site preparation

All foundations and mechanical work for:

Installation and configuration of an integrated Allen Bradley Operator Control System

Startup and commissioning

Landfill gas conditioning and compressing systems

Three 4.6MW Solar Mercury 50 gas turbine generators

Associated equipment and tie-ins

Steam lines and piping

2,500 square-foot maintenance control building

Main transformer and step-down transformer
