Nope, I can never be mad about Chase killing an evil dictator. Sexiest thing he ever did.

I feel safe to express my love for the beginning of the ROTJ throne room scene here. I really adore Luke's uncertain look at the beginning, and the way he careens into the canisters from the first blast of lightning and leans upon them. His feeble attempt to defend against the second as it easily stuns him, and then the third blast capitalizing upon his inability to defend. And the desperate clinging for dear life with little sparks. The rest of the scene is great, but the opening entrances me.
You have come to the right place anon! This is a very safe space for all manner of Luke Skywalker appreciation, and you are right. Mark Hamill doesn't get enough props for being a great actor, and I really think he does an amazing job in all of the OT, but the nuance required in the throne room is perhaps the most under-appreciated of his work. We have seen him just exude confidence at the beginning of the film...
Stay cool as a cucumber facing down the rancor and Sarlacc, etc.
And look damn good doing it...
So that's what makes this moment even better, the shaken confidence and trust in himself, the Force, upon realizing things are definitely not as anticipated...How he loses his cool upon inadvertently betraying Leia's status to Vader, and then, as you mention, the holy crap what is this lightning flying out of the evil dude's fingers moment. No one ever was electrocuted quite so sexily...
I've said before and I'll say it again, Mark Hamill looked incredible in the throne room, acted his ass off, and is the main reason the triumph of love and Vader's redemption work. We love Luke, his kindness, his goodness, his confidence and the wavering of it, and that's why we can believe his father came back to the Light, why love conquered evil that day. Luke Skywalker is a hero. And heroes are sexy, by the way.
Just...let's just look at him here...just like...soooo freaking handsome.
Thank you for giving me an excuse to rewatch this and appreciate the ending of ROTJ again my friend. All OT appreciation is welcome here! 🥰😘
u know what i just realized will? young hercules from the disney musical is literally anakin. they're the same person.
i have not seen that movie in so long oh my god haha BUT on principle i will agree that anakin skywalker is cast in the greek heroic mold, and as such there will be resonance between him and all depictions of heroes in that model, both in antiquity and in modern reception. i need to rewatch it but i will say just in abstract: absolutely
Y’ALL
If you’re not already watching the WCWS.....I highly recommend you do that
Remember when everyone was like "it's an anti-sex bed" with literally no evidence except shitty tabloid speculation? Turns out that's massive BS.
Be critical pls. The beds are recyclable. That is all. The whole condom situation is the real anti-sex issue. People will bone with or without free condoms.
I'm so sorry for the Swan Song spam, but I was in a praise the hero Killian Jones mood tonight.
Happy pride month!! Here’s one of my long forgotten OC couples!
Friendly reminder that the LGBT rights movement was started by black trans women throwing bricks at cops. If you’re in the LGBT community today, it is MANDATORY that you support the Black Lives Matter movement with the same gusto that you would an LGBT movement.
