I'm still banking on the idea that if the Eggs did leave they did it to spare their parents rather than for purely survival reasons.

If this thing is greater than the Feds and Codes, there's no way their parents could protect them, it would just be a waiting game to see who would die next. And several of the eggs have spoken about how the worst thing they could think of is their parents grief when they're dead. So...they leave, because this way they're still alive and their parents don't have to worry over protecting them but surviving the Island

They leave their accessories behind for their parents to remember them.
