nanu REALLY digs under ash’s skin in the ulaula grand trial ep & you can actually connect it to his past experience with bad trainers like Paul and his desire to never be like them

#this is one of the drafts i don't have anything to add to lol #but the ulaula grand trial is SUCH a good episode #i've rewatched it 5 times #it's just so interesting because by sun&moon ash had become such a level-headed kid #but as soon as nanu starts criticizing his skills as a trainer #it all goes out the window #& it's ironic too because throughout the whole episode ash has been trying to keep lycanroc calm #because he hasn't picked up on the fact that lycanroc is in control of its anger #and the fact that he gets super pissed after nanu taunts him actively blocks him from being able to open up and realize what lycanroc is doi #is doing #ok maybe i kinda had something to add lol #anyways it's just interesting because of how fast nanu is able to tear down ash's confidence and ability to pay attention to the battle #and don't even get me started on how important it is for trainers to pay attention to their battles #pokémon #pokéani #sun&moon #pokemon #pokeani #fiftytenpost #sm077
