Rose would appear carrying a small thin scroll. The paper nothing fancy but would merely contain the word "BUTTS" when opened. The symbols at the end belong to Ily.
He was no stranger to seeing his beloved Rose come and gofrom his shoulder. She was many thingsfor him but one still remained being amessenger. Of course, he was notsurprised to see her come to him with a piece of paper in her beak. “You’re looking well fed.” He murmured to her as she flew to hisshoulder and found her beloved perch.
It was short of saying you’re looking pudgy. Gloved fingers reached up to the piece of paper, unrolling it as shecocked her head to the side and stared at him with a violet eye.
“Ily has the best jerky. Cawk!” She swayed back and forth on his shoulder, impatiently waiting.
“I am sure she does.” His lips pressed into a thin line, undoing the piece of paper to see thechicken scratch that was Ilyea’s writing. How that girl managed to readwhat she wrote was beyond him. Violeteyes squinted ever so much as he read the single word scrawled across thepaper.
BUTTS
He turned it this way and that, blinking unbelieving eyes atthe message. It was not an insult but itcertainly did not make sense. Soconfused by it, he pondered on it too long until Rose made a strange chirp of asound. She was expecting her treat. Instead, he reached up and grazed his fingers over her beak only to haveher peck at his fingers.
“Ily gives me jerky!” She cawed at him again, holding herwings out.
“Do not start with me, bird. You tell her to stop sending nonsense. And to write like a civilized elf. Go on. Get.”
