Trying With Permission ( or ‘Too Many Tinkers Spoil The Incredibly Delicate Machine Known For Catastrophic Malfunctions‘)
“Shade!” The dwarf calls out from within a familiar captain’s quarters. They had been preparing for nearly a week and a half now, only today did they have the chance to install their work while the captain was away.
“No complaints.” She assured herself, the dwarf trying to consider Killian’s face upon finding an addition to his private quarters over a day-long gap. “He was askin’ ‘fer this, after all.”
Today was the day that the two tinkers of the ship put their work into motion. Their minds had already come together to design the piece, and each separated to prepare for the captain’s odd day of vacation or errand-tending.
It was time to install a transporter pad. Something the captain asked about, but almost refused to take time out to discuss. If he didn’t want to go over the health risks, fuck it!
The door opens, the dwarf slips in, and without a moment to spare Leshii sets about preparing the space for their creation. While Shade assembled some of the more delicate parts according to their plans belowdecks, Leshii began hauling furniture around to make space. A bookshelf over here, a desk over there, a tight corner was eventually freed and mopped before measurements were taken to sand-grain precision.
“Come on, Shade!” She calls again as she begins to chip away at the floorboards. “We ain’t gifted with a whole day ‘ta sneak this in!” Pushy was one way to put it, but it was the only way to get this done without too many questions asked. After all, if even Lief knew she was digging away at the floorboards to secure an odd machine, there would surely be trouble.
