Episode 2.06 - Top Ten Thoughts
Thoughts on "What Stays in Russia". I'll start with the general stuff, beyond my live posts. 1. How hard am I praying that Shado was putting magic mud on Slade's face? Because I LOVE Manu's face! That's my Manu and I want his pretty face back. You know...I could ship Slade/Shado (Shade?) or Slade/Sarah. 2. So happy to see CAS in the role of Amanda Waller. If she sticks around I hope we get to see some of the moves she picked up at Spartacus Gladiator Bootcamp. She's just so gorgeous. I would love to see Manu and Cynthia onscreen together -- Crixus and Naevia in the "afterlife". Squee! 3. Roy and Quentin acknowledging each other as Team members. Yes! 4. Mentioned before -- I love PrisonMoira. She seems totally at peace with herself -- which is strangely at odd with her own son's state of mind. The longer she's punished the more peaceful she becomes while Oliver punishes himself to no end by refusing to let go of his guilt for things that happened in situations that were beyond his control. 5. So Felicity stayed in the hotel the entire mission? I know DR talked about how he thinks Felicity would be a liability in the field and he hopes to see more of Diggle training her -- but that cannot come soon enough, IMHO. My vision of...say, season 6, is of Felicity taking on a much more physical role. Kicking ass and taking names. <crossing fingers> 6. Isabel Rochev. My feeling is that Isabel wants to be lonely. She thrives on it. And if her lonely vibe draws men into her web, so much the better. While she may be trying to play Oliver on a corporate level, my take is that she was just scratching an itch. Proving something to herself, because she could. 7. Team Arrow. I'm getting the sense that the Arrow showrunners are moving Team Arrow to a place where no one person is the Arrow. Eventually, the Green Arrow will be a conglomerate of people, a network, actively seeking ways to make Starling City a better place. Whether they all know that OQ is behind the mask or not -- it won't make a difference because everyone will have their part to play, and each of them will be, for lack of a better word, complicit. Welcome to Green Arrow, LLC. I think this idea is fantastic. 8. Olicity. Oh God, it hurts (so good)! There can be no denying now. The moment he saw "the look" on her face when Isaabel showed up at the door, you could practically hear him crack wide open. The most beautiful thing of all? HE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW! Until he saw her unguarded reaction, he didn't even know that by hurting her he could hurt himself. Then, in that final scene, he put it all out there. I think it's possible that in that scene, she was so caught up in her hurt and her own feelings of inadequacy, that she might not understood that he was speaking directly to her. 9. Diggle/Lyla. A thousand times...YES! Look at Diggle...putting his obsessive need to kill Deadshot aside because it best serves Lyla. Not only did he not kill the guy, they even worked together to rescue her and escape the prison. 10. H.I.V.E. A new bigbad! A literally did a Felicity victory fist pump when Deadshot fed Digg this information. The scene was layered with so much subtext, almost as if Floyd Lawton felt sympathy for Diggle's loss. I'm surprised he didn't actually say, "It wasn't personal, it was business." He gave up intel to Diggle that is sacred to a hitman -- the name of his client -- and that is huge. A new mystery to solve. Seriously, I can't wait!
