I had heard his name, even connected through Facebook, but had never had the opportunity to communicate face to face with Visual. He's been around for a minute, and his work and affiliations are well known in Chicago's Hip Hop scene.
When I first noticed him at Sin Castle's "Beat Rhyme Crime Spree" (the project can be downloaded at the FYF nation homies blog by clicking the link) release party last Friday, he was a pretty inconspicuous guy. Sitting at the bar chilling with a beer, looking relaxed and ready to perform, I took the opportunity to introduce myself and see what he was like. I have to say, the artists I've been fortunate to converse with have all been very cool and approachable, and he was no exception. Though the conversation was brief, it was great to see he was very open to socializing. We briefly discussed an indecent at a show, in which someone took the time to show him some misguided attention (for more on that, the link to his page is coming). I mentioned to him I do a blog, and also that we've featured some of his work previously, and I would like to play more in the future. He said he had CDs with him and told me, "I got you." Considering that we had just met for the first time, that's a pretty generous offer. I did however tell him, I understand the independent artists perspective, and offered to purchase the CDs. The chance to have physical copies is great, and understanding that the work and effort put into them, not to mention the cash, should reap their rewards. After our convo, he was scheduled to perform, and proceeded to keep the night going, as did all the performers (more on them soon). Shortly after the performance, just as he had appeared, he was just as quietly gone.
For the entire scoop on Visual, I'm not going to give you much here. I just wanted to share my experience, which was positive to say the least. For more on him, his work, background, etc. go to iseeitall.com. You won't be disappointed.
