Damn, y'all have been busy. Go away for a while and look what happens.

It took me a bit to figure out what happened, but by now it’s old news for most of you. Not going to add much, except the idea of having significant others in productions is really nothing new, especially in British TV. I can think of 6 roles off the top of my head that were played by family members or SOs in Sherlock, Dr. Who was rife, Sandman was practically a family reunion, and I could go on. There have been articles written about it, diagrams made, and endless discussion.

Is it a problem? Maybe. According to one article, “A notable name has often resulted in immediate entry into Britain’s media landscape, leading to a lack of opportunities for the working class.”

Do I think it’s a problem if Ty Tennant or Peter Davison have roles in GO2? Not really. Do I buy that Neil Gaiman didn’t know who Ty Tennant was? Not really. Was he saying that to deflect accusations of nepotism? I think so. And that’s the part about this whole kerfuffle that gets me. Just own up to it and move on.

Now- do I think it’s a problem if Georgia or Anna have roles in GO2 or GO3? Maybe?

I think what people are worried about is this:

“Does it matter when you’re the producer’s niece?”

“So, she gets to play a scene with Neville Sinclair, and we play scenery. I love Hollywood.”

Georgia has shown she can act, but the jury is still out on Anna. She just hasn’t shown she has the chops yet to hold her own with the who’s who of UK actors. Her 3 IMDB credits include 2 she got because of her relationship with Michael and the other, I’m guessing, was similarly achieved. At least Ty has a bigger variety of roles under his belt, even if he’s not the best actor yet.

Whether you agree with Neil’s response, or if you’re on the side of the anons here, I think we can all say that we’re concerned about this issue because we all want GO2 (and hopefully GO3) to be the best it can be.

And no, I wasn’t having nightmares. Been sleeping pretty well actually, thanks for keeping me in your thoughts.

That's my major beef with her. She could use her platform for topics that are important to Michael, or even to her--if she has any--but she doesn't. She barely mentioned the HWC when she was there. She has one BLM meme on her Insta. She's just so bland. And all of his other long term girlfriends were such strong feminists and activists.

Playful teasing of that sort without understanding, history or context isn't kind, respectful or healthy. It's very often a sign that the playful teaser is a narcissist.

Agree with above. It's also particularly icky because it highlights the age difference again, which they should be downplaying. If she wanted a hottie, she shouldn't have picked (targeted) a 50 year old actor who's never been known for his looks. I wonder if she makes him put in red contacts and slick back his hair for bed?

I couldn’t place a name to the face but I did recognize her so I appreciate the assist! Seems he was possibly at Gaiman’s around the same time or just after he “met” Anna. I still don’t think they were as serious as the claims have been.

In one of her first "public" instagrams APAT called Michael "Angel Face," I think at the premiere of GO. Ewww... And I hate the thought that he used the e.e. cummings for both daughters. There are a lot of poems out there, Michael.

OH RIGHT. She DID say she was proud of that “angelic face” or whatever barf-inducing verbiage she used at the GO premiere. This is a solid observation.

I'm not seeing her as an interesting person. Sarah Silverman was so passionate politically, Aisling too, and Michael has made it his life, and this chick can't even stand for something except the football in her belly? "Oh, the HWC was so great, everyone was really nice." Not, "This is an amazing and important organization and I am supporting it by..."

That’s very true. I mentioned this a while back in a post about what I think his “type” is and I’d have to agree that if she’s not very politically or socially motivated in the same way that it might be kind of a deal-breaker for him in this phase of his life if she’s expecting a long term relationship to really work. Either she needs to get on board with what he’s doing and REALLY be about that and take a stand for it in the same way he does or find her own issues to care about.

I was thinking about the timing of that whole "glamping" thing. Probably decided he should actually get to know the future mother of his child, beyond a bounce on a mattress. You just know that part of the delay in timelines was her calling him up in February/March and saying, "Um, yeah, we hooked up in December, and I'm preggers now."
