When the novelty of living alone all but worn off real fast, Aster couldn’t really find it within herself to find a roommate. She quite liked the privacy of living alone for the first time. For once, she didn’t have to share anything with her sisters and other sea creatures. The thing with living alone, however, was that she had spent her entire life surrounded by so many creatures that it became quite lonely, otherwise. She didn’t really trust anyone here enough to live with them, per say, so she thought she’d opt for the local shelter. It was then that she found a rather broody, Norwegian forest cat who the shelter attendant said wasn’t the friendliest. He was slow to warm up to her, and she respected that about him, but when he nuzzled his snout against the back of her hand, she knew they had a special connection.
She never had a cat before, but seeing as how she grew up around manatees, octopi, squids and sharks, she figured cats wouldn’t be too hard to take care of. She did, however, borrow a few books on cat rearing from the library just in case. She named him Caspian after the sea she was born in, and brought him home.
That was 2 months ago, and it was one of the best decisions she’s made in her life. He was the perfect, low-maintenance roommate, and was always available when Aster wanted cuddles. She was in bed with him reading when she heard a knock on her front door. Her brow furrowed as she made her way there, not expecting guests on her day off. She peaked through the peep hole before opening the door. “Wow, you look like a truck ran you over. What happened, Mr. grumpy?”
