i would recommend not doing it - as a gif maker (and the sister of a graphics maker that works hard on her gifs and speaks against this), i know that people that make gifs generally don't like it when their gifs are cropped and used without credit |:

Make them a gif hunt and say "I adjusted brightness/contrast and cropped but credit to the original gif makers."
A'ight, I'll think about it. And in response to howlinglaurahale, I wouldn't take credit for them; I'm only using gifs with no signature or anything, and I'd make it clear that they're not mine, and that, if their owners want them removed, I'd be more than happy to do so. And this only applies to gifs NOT made with photoshop, aka gifs made with online image editors, etc.
