"Bonnie." Kai stepped out and grabbed her waist again, pulling her in the shower with him, bra and all, "I just want to enjoy a shower with you. I promise to behave." he held her back against his chest and wrapped his arms around her waist.
"You're getting me wet!" Bonnie cried out in shock when the water hit her skin. "I don't think you know what behaving is." And she quickly took off her underwear and bra so they wouldn't get soaked through.
Kai smiled and buried his face in the crook of her neck, "I don't deserve this kind of happiness. Not with what I've done in the past." he whispered, kissing her neck softly.
"No one gets what they deserve, things just happen." Allowing him to kiss her neck but shifting away so there was a little space between them as she poured a good dose of shampoo into her palm
Kai took her hand and dumped the shampoo into his own, massaging it I to her hair, "Someone people...good people...never get a happy ending. Why should I?"
"Life will never be fair, Malachai." She tilted her head back so that he could better reach it. She liked the way his fingers massaged her scalp.
"It doesn't make sense to me." he lightly pushed her under the water so her shampoo rinsed out. He then poured just the right amount of conditioner in his hand and ran it through her hair.
She just hummed under the ministrations.
Once they finished with their shower, Kai scooped bonnie up and wrapped a towel around her, carrying her to the bed. He laid her down and snuggled in next to her, "I adore you, Bonnie."
Bonnie squirmed a little against him, "Then be better. We can be together then."
"I cant. Being bad is who I am. I'm not going to change that for anyone. Just accept it." he burried his face in the back of her hair.
"I'm an Angel, Kai. You can be good, you just don't want to." Bonnie muttered, this time squirming away from him to lay on her side of the bed without him touching her.
"Oh god, now you're mad at me? Fine. I'm going out then. If I can't get attention from you, ill get it else where." he grabbed his jacket off the hanger
"Are you going to do this every time I tell you that you can be better?" She turned over in the bed to look at him with tired eyes, "Let me guess, you're going to go off and find that whore of yours and have sex then murder a family. Again. You keep saying you don't want me to see you as a monster, but the way you act defies that. And I still don't see you as a monster." She raised one hand and closed it into a fist, the hotel door locking until she gave the order for it to unlock. "You're lost. And acting like a child."
Kai glared, taking in her words but refusing to show any reaction. He tried and the down and growled, "Bonnie open this damn door now. I won't ask again!" he shouted, glancing over in her direction.
"You can't make me do anything, Malachai."
Kai grabbed a knife from the kitchen and rushed over to her on the bed, pressing it to her throat as he straddled her, "I could end you right here, and go back to my normal life. The best part? No one would even know, or /care/."
"I would come back. You can kill me again, and again, and again, and I would keep coming back, Malachai." She told him, baring her throat to him and closing her eyes.
Kai clenched his jaw and pressed the knife against her throat harder, before yelling as he threw it and sat up, "I'm not suppose to care! I'm a murderer! I hate everyone! Everyone but you!" he glared at her, clearly pissed. "Whatever spell you've put me under isn't going to work, Bonnie Bennett."
She felt the blade cut deeper into her throat, blood starting to slip down the side of her neck. "I'm not using magic, Malachai. And you aren't near as flat of a character as you think you are." He was still straddling her, her hands on either side of her. Allowing him to use her as a punching bag.
Kai glared harder before moving from the bed and dissapearing into the bathroom. When he resurfaced, he brought with him a rag, which he placed against her throat, "Hold pressure to it." he mumbled.
She didn't move from the bed, simply folding her hands on her stomach. "It's not that deep." But she didn't remove the rag. Her eyes still closed. Just laying there.
"I don't want a guardian anymore. So why cant you just leave? I don't /want/ you here or in my life at all for that matter." he lied, turning his back to her
The clock was 3am by the time Kai had packed everything up and was now leaving the hotel. He packed his suitcase into his car and began down the road. He felt stupid for the tears that drove down his cheek but there was nothing he couch do to stop them.
Bonnie had heard him packing up and leaving, but chose not to move the entire time. A silent test to see if he would actually inform her. She couldn't stop the reign of disappointment that twisted through her veins. So, she heaved a sigh and promptly disappeared from that hotel and right into the passenger seat of his car. "You do realize I always know where you are, don't you?"
"Fuck!" Kai swerved the car before quickly regaining control of the wheel, "I forgot you could do that." he gripped the steering wheel and glanced over at her once, "Well, since you're here I guess you're going with me."
"Where are we going?" Green eyes flitting over to him as she leaned onto her arm rest.
"Miami. I thought a vacation might get you out of my head and my life, but clearly that's not going to happen."
"No, it will not. I'm not just going to disappear because you don't like me." She closed her eyes and tried not to focus on how slow the car was compared to her usual way of transportation. "I've been watching over you for nearly ten years and you have never behaved as strangely as you do now."
"I'm sorry I kissed you last night. It was a mistake." no it wasn't, but he wasn't about to admit to himself how he felt about her. Not yet.
"Okay." Was her only response to that. She certainly wasn't sorry about kissing him back. "Where will be staying in Miami?"
"Well, I ordered myself a single bed hotel, so I guess we'll be bed buddies again. But besides that, I don't know what im going to do there. I just need to get out of New Orleans for a while." he glanced over at her, "You can go back to sleep if you want."
"I don't require sleep. And I don't trust you to not abandon me in the car to get away from me." Bonnie said flatly, staring out the window, watching the trees go by.
Kai sighed and the entire car ride was silent. They stopped every other hour and got gas or food and once they reached the hotel, he landed on the single large bed, "Can we just sleep? I don't want to do anything tonight."
"Go ahead." Bonnie said, making herself at home on the little loveseat the hotel provided. All too used to sharing a bed with him, but still a little stingy that he'd tried to leave her behind. Sure, she forgave him for it, but that didn't mean she wasn't allowed to be a little bitter.
Kai became incredibly needy when tired, which explained all the nights he wined for her to cuddle him. Kai rolled to the edge of the bed and reached out for her, "Come here."
"I didn't hear a 'please' in that." Bonnie chided, not about to move unless he put forth an effort for her company which he so obviously didn't want. He didn't even have the courtesy to move her to the bed. It's not like she weighed that much. Being abandoned wasn't something she took lightly.
"Pleeease." he whined and reached out further, taking hold on her leg, "Hah!" he smiled
She just shot him a look, but didn't pull her leg from his grip. "You do realize that if I hadn't followed you here in my physical form, that you wouldn't get to cuddle me at all--right?" But she wriggled her toes at him anyway.
Kai rose from the bed and scooped her up from the chair, tossing her on the bed and hovering over her, "I would have come back." he lied.
"You checked out of the hotel. If I had remained asleep for much longer, I would have been woken by a janitor." She called him out with her brows raised pointedly. Uneffected by his proximity and just hovering.
Kai leaned down and nuzzled into her neck, "I hate the way I treat you, Bonnie. I don't deserve you, so I left."
"So stop treating me that way if you hate the way you do it." She snapped, turning her head slightly to look at him.
"I want you to leave my life." he whispered, cuddling her, rolling onto his back and holding her against him.
"I don't deserve you."
"That's too bad, because I'm not. And people don't come and go because you think you deserve them or not." Bonnie said, snuggled into his side with one leg curved over his. Just laying on her side, partially on top of him.
"I don't want to fall in love with you." he whispered and ran his fingers through her hair, "I cant..."
"Then don't. Stop treating me like shit. It's very unappreciated." She muttered.
"If I treat you the way I want to, then ill fall in love." he rolled them over again and hovered over her, "You have no idea how badly I need to kiss you right now."
"I think you already have and it terrifies you." Bonnie glanced down at his lips before meeting his stare again. "Are you going to call it a mistake? Or you going to treat me like shit in the morning?"
Kai leaned down and nuzzled into her, "Kiss me" he whispered softly, taking her hand and resting the back of her palm against the pillow, threading his fingers through hers.
She leaned up to him, her lips just over his, though not touching. "Answer my questions." Her eyes still open, not moving from him. Just allowing him to rest between her legs.
"we both know we cant work. Not in the way we want." his lips met her neck, leaving small kisses.
"Are you going to call this a mistake? Are you going to treat me like shit in the morning?" She repeated, her thumb rubbing over his.
"that's my only line of defense." he whispered and kissed her neck several more times.
"Then you don't get to kiss me." Bonnie said, pulling her hand from his and pushing him at his shoulders. Ready to move back to the loveseat.
Kai pushed her back down, "Bonnie I love you." he knew he shouldn't, but he did. In under 3 months she had snuck under his skin and it was driving him crazy.
"Malachai, I won't tolerate you calling this a mistake or treating me terribly. You don't get this both ways. Make your choice." She said, her heart skipping a beat at his admission.
"I love you." he leaned down and kissed her lips, "I love you. I love you." he repeated, kissing her lips several times. He had never said those words to anyone. Not even family.
She reached up to grab his face to keep him from kissing her again, just staring up into his eyes. "Answer my questions. Are you going to call this a mistake? Will you continue to treat me like shit? Telling me you love me does not answer any of those." She stroked his cheekbones and glanced down at his lips again. She liked how they felt. His were soft and pink and she wanted them against her own again.
"No." he said softly, "I might pretend this never happened, but it is not a mistake. Its everything I've always wanted."
"I've always wanted to fall in love..and be wanted."
"Are you going to continue to treat me like shit?" She used her other hand to run through his hair lightly.
"No." he whispered and met her eyes.
"Good." She whispered, pulling him back down to kiss him properly.
Kai returned later that night and was sure she's notice his tie was no longer tied. He did in fact have sex eith the woman later that day, but Bonnie didn't need to know that, and he wasn't sure he's care. Shed made herself very clear this morning. He was a monster. "I'm back."
"I have ears." She reminded him, like they were playing a game of state the obvious. Green eyes flitting over him and her nostrils flared. She brushed past him with a pillow in her arms again. Ready to sleep on the couch for a second night in a row. Her hair was already wrapped and she was wearing a tank with shorts. "Goodnight, Malachai." And she set herself up on the couch with her crossword puzzle book propped up on her thighs.
"We're going out for a killing tomorrow. Just thought you should know." he smirked as he poured his water bottle into the fire, letting it go out, "I thought I should make some more of your friends, since you so clearly stated this morning." he laughed, "The funny thing is, you thought I actually cared for you. Meanwhile I was out having the best sex of my life." he turned off the living room light, "Goodnight!" he said in a cheerful tone before disappearing in his room.
Bonnie launched up and stormed into his room before catching the door and slamming it shut so hard that the door frame literally cracked from the force of it. She grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and held him up against the wall, glaring. "You want to know how I died? Fine. I died protecting the people I cared about because I used so much magic that it overtook my body. It was more painful than you can ever think about. Imagine every cell in your body bursting into flame right now and you might come close to it."
She dropped him to the carpeted floor and held a hand to his chest, still pinning him there and stepping closer with that sharp stare, "And if you think I can't stop you, then you've got another thing coming because I am an angel. You have no idea what I can do. So do not test me, Malachai Parker. I may be here to help you, but that does not mean you get to treat me like I'm just your doormat."
"I'm not a place for the dirt on the bottom of your shoes."
Kai's eyes widened but only for a second, "Then maybe you should just leave! No one wants you here and I sure as hell dont care if you leave. Pack your things and find a new person to watch over. I'm done with this and you."
"Really? Because..." She let her fingers spread out on his chest, feeling the blood racing through his veins and arteries, "....if you really didn't care about me, if you were really so indifferent, your heart wouldn't be racing right now." Green eyes met his again, "And I'm not leaving you just because you throw a fit. You're stuck with me, end of story."
Kai clenched his jaw and once again grabbed her wrist, pulling it from his chest, "Stop it, Bonnie. Just go back out there and go to sleep." his voice was lower than usual.
"Are you going out there tomorrow with that partner of yours to continue this path? IF you are, I'm not about to stop." Bonnie pulled her hand from his and this time held him to the wall with both hands. Fingers spread out against his chest. Feeling his heart beat and the warmth that emitted from his skin.
"That path is all I know, Bonnie Bennett. Its easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission." his eyes stayed locked on her for what seemed like hours, "Oh and just an fyi. She was great in bed." he smirked. Hiding his feelings was the only thing he knew how to do.
"You're so scared of change that you'll continue down this path even though you know it will only lead to your burning for eternity." Then she gave him a look of annoyance at the last little comment, "I didn't care to know that." And withdrew her hands, backing away and starting toward the door, then looking over her shoulder again, "You're disgusting." But there was a fond note to her voice that softened the blow to the words. Then continued to the couch.
Kai was behind her in a second, turning her around and kissing her deeply. This was their first actual kiss and he knew it wasn't exactly the right time and place for it, but he couldn't hold in the hunger any longer. He pulled away slowly and took a breath, "Goodnight." he hurried back to his room and locked the door behind him, fingers brushing over his lips.
Bonnie couldn't help it. She kissed him back, though her next move was to shove him away. She walked up to his door and pressed her hand against it before leaning in, "Don't you ever kiss me again while smelling like someone else." There was a heavy warning in her voice and a flush to her cheeks, but that didn't discount anything. She turned around and started back to the couch again.
When Kai woke he found the couch empty. He sat up, stretching, glancing around the hotel. Finding it empty he quickly began to panic, "Bonnie?!" he stood from the couch quickly
Bonnie walked out from the locked bathroom with a towel wrapped around her. "What? What? I was in the shower." She gae him a grumpy look.
"Oh. I thought maybe you left." his eye wondered, smirking slightly at the towel hugging every curve in her body.
"Well, I didn't." Bonnie told him flatly, then turned to walk back into the bathroom to change into her clothes and start the process of blowing her hair dry.
Kai moved into the bathroom, behind her, and placing his hands on her hips, teasingly, "I don't even get a good morning? After all the cuddling we did?" he smirked, nuzzling into her neck
"Good morning, now get out. I have to get dressed." Bonnie couldn't help the slight twitch up of her lips as she swatted at him to get out. "Maybe you could make yourself useful and make us some coffee." She turned her head to give him a sharp little smirk.
"Dont you need help getting dressed?" he wrapped his arms around her waist and held her against him, "Maybe I don't want you to get dressed."
She elbowed his chest, her towel starting to rumple against him while one hand held it together. "Whoa, whoa, mister, you haven't even taken me on a date yet. And I want to get dressed." She twisted around to point at him, that towel riding up a little against him to show off more of her upper thighs.
Kai smirked and lifted her chin, "Tjen maybe I need to take you on a date hm?" he leaned in, lips brushing against hers, "I'll make you dinner tonight." he pulled away and left the bathroom, trying to hide how fast his heart was beating.
Her eyes didn't even shut when he kissed her. No, it didn't last long enough to even be considered a kiss. "Good, I expect something nice, Parker." And promptly shut the door behind him, locking it and letting the towel drop so that she could get dressed.
Kai made his way into the kitchen and began the coffee maker. That's when it hit him, he was falling for Bonnie. The one person in this world he knew he couldn't be with. It was forbidden for a guardian to love his or her person. He placed both hands on each side of the sink and closed his eyes.
Bonnie came out of the bathroom fully dressed with her hair fluffed out and the towel draped across her shoulders. "How's the coffee coming along?" She bumped her hip into his before moving to make some breakfast.
"Bonnie why did you pick me? I mean did you even pick me or was I just the last one left. I was always picked last for dodge ball in middle school." he tried to laugh but knew she could see right past it.
"Neither." Bonnie said as she scrambled the eggs with her spatula, "I was put with you because they thought I would be able to help you the best."
"Bonnie how did you die?" the questions just kept on coming, but this one...this was one he wanted to ask from the very beginning.
Her hand tightened on the spatula, "How do you like your eggs?" Not a very clever deflection, but that was one of the things she didn't want to talk about.
"Bonnie. I know you don't want to talk about it.." his hand rested on her arm, "But I want you to open up to me. I need it."
"I'll tell you," Eventually, "Just not now, Kai." She said without facing him, continuing with making the eggs, adding garlic salt and pepper. Her mouth pursed in thought.
"Then when? In two days? Weeks? Months? Bonnie I might not be around long enough for you to tell me!" at her silence he grabbed her wrist violently, "Bonnie! Talk to me!" he yelled
Bonnie just stared up at him for a moment, flexing her wrist, "Guardian Angels are good people who die too young. I'm sure you've made plenty of them, but that doesn't make my death your business, Kai." Her voice sharp as she jerked her arm from his grasp and went back to making them breakfast.
Kai glared before stepping away and grabbing his keys and coat from the couch, "I'm actually going to have breakfast at the diner. A friend of mine wants to catch up. I'll be back later." he opened the hotel door and slammed it shut.
"Fine. Make sure they know you're spoken for." Bonnie snapped at him just as he exited the room. She wasn't obligated to follow him everywhere. He had earned a little bit of privacy as she was concerned, but that didn't make her any less worried about what he might do. He was still incredibly volatile.
